My Jane gave me the scare of my life last night.
For a little background my Jane is a "nervous" glider. She is a very skittery animal and not one to relax a whole lot. Even when they are sleeping in the pouch and I peek in on them Jane will be the one to imeadiatly look up like "What, what, what's going on??"

So yesterday afternoon we were having our "afternoon nap" time, where they get their licky treats and they lay with me in their pouch while I read for an hour. So I was rubbing them through the pouch when I decide to peek in.
Jane is laying faceing me almost at the top of the pouch on my chest and she has her eyes about half closed, ears down. So I reach in and softly rub her head. No movement, not a flicker of her eye. I smile and rub very softly under her chin and when I remove my finger her head just goes "thunk" right back down. Again, not a eye flicker...nothing.
So now I poke her a little. Nothing. I poke harder and wiggle her a little. She is like, boneless, still eyes half closed...nothing, not even the smallest movement.
Now I get scared and actually shake her a little...nothing!
Terrified I sit straight up spilling both gliders to the bottom of the pouch willy-nilly and Jane..poof, gives her head a shake and looks up at me like "What the heck woman, where's the fire?"

Was she just completely relaxed and zonked out?? Like kids that you can carry from the car to the house and never even move?
I was 100% absolutely out of my mind with fear.
Please someone else tell me you have seen this sort of thing with your glider. I would love the fact that she was just that relaxed and comfy but did she have to scare me to death??

Phew! Thanks guys. smile
Glad to know some others have heavy sleepers too!
I thought I had suffocated her while I was rubbing and petting them and was about to have heart failure right on the spot!
I'll keep an eye out for the heavy sleep mode from now on...maybe it will be the only time she will let me hold her..lol!

My gliders do that all the time when I am wearing them. I swear they sleep sounder when they are on me than when they are in their cage pouches.

They feel safe when they can feel and hear your heartbeat, like being back in their mothers pouch so I am sure they sleep harder.

Sorry she scared the bejeebers out of you.

My female did the same thing to me the other day. She had been sleeping in my bra tank and I was terrified my "girls" had smothered her!

It's horrifying! Glad to know I'm not the only one who has suffered. Perhaps we need a support group!

Yep, mine do that. I have had the scare of my life too, but they were just in their deep sleep trance mode. Sometimes, I can even pick Laverne up, turn her on her back, and THEN she will wake up. I think it happens when they have a super heavy play mode at night and they are just dead tired.
