For the past 3 to 4 weeks(maybe less) I have been using a different cleaning regime http://www.sugar-gliders.com/glider-cages-list.htmIf you scroll down to the 3 cleaning supplies The first, the cleaner is ok but I am used to my high powered cleaner that kills everything, however the cage and toy sheild is the bomb! plus it kills odor causing bacteria! I spray it on all my toys, wheels, cages after I clean the cages and the sticky icky mess wipes right off. I have not tried the third product but will when I order so more of the cage and toy sheild spray on! Have a blessed day

I've used the third - Scooter's Choice. It is wonderful! It is one of those "medical grade" cleaners that kills viruses, bacteria, etc. It doesn't have a heavy smell, and it doesn't make my cages rust, like the vinegar does.
I'm scared to use the cage shield on anything they might lick or chew. But I spray it in their drop pans, and they just wipe clean!

Alden, I used Cage Shield for years. No problems I wish I had kept using it, MAYBE the Excel cages wouldn't have gotten rusty the way they did! I have another cage that was very expensive and is HUGE that starting to rust in places after only 1 year! Thanks for this Cora! I am going to start using this product!

Hmm... May have to order some of the cage shield.
Just wondering though, does it actually only need to be sprayed every 5-7 cleanings like it says? ..And what kind of "cleanings" are we talking about there? Spot cleaning, or heavy duty? I mean, I'm guessing the product wouldn't out-last being steamcleaned every week.
Also, I'm wondering how many uses would one bottle provide. It says about 1600 sprays, but how many sprays are needed for a large cage? Just trying to figure out how long it'd last so I can figure out the cost per expected use. (not that it's expensive - just curious).

I agree with Cora 100%...I have been using the cleaner and shield on my cages. I like them both but like Cora said...the shield is something that saves me a lot of time around here. I use the shield about every 5 or 6 days and the wiping down in between times are great and easy. I called Lisa and asked her about bigger bottles of it and she was going to look into it. Lisa told me and it is also on the bottle...if human or pet gets some in thier mouth...it will not hurt you or the pet. There is nothing in it to go against you. I spray it all over the cage... toys and wheels...what ever is in the cage. I really love it and it kills odors also. Thats my 2 cents...I wouldn't be without it. Mary

Okay, so.. with just my one cage, I'm guessing a bottle of the stuff would last at least a month, even if I spray the entire cage weekly.
Those of you who have used the cage shield prior for awhile, does it really help prevent rust? I have a rust phobia, so if it really helps to prevent it - I'm sold.

I am not sure if they cage shield will prevent rust, but I am sure it will slow the process down greatly. I use the cage shield every time I wash anything for the boys. It works really well! I never have to work at getting anything cleaned and it keeps everything fresher as well. I once forgot to spray and the next time I cleaned I noticed a huge difference in not only how hard I worked, but also in the amount of err.... residue on on the cage and toys. The cleaner is also a must have in my house! I need to buy more as I am basically out! That cleaner really leaves my cage feeling clean and smooth!
