Studies also shows the same for children.
The fact of the matter is when you get more socialization in, you form rights and wrongs, dos and don'ts, the ability to love, etc.
Gliders know that must eat, they must groom, they need a buddy, etc. I think all animals have their own unique personalities and quirks, but when it comes to owning them, it's on us to determine how much to 'cater' to that.

I really think that our gliders have their own personalities right from the start, we see the differences in their personalities even before we have a chance to interfere. However, I do believe that our intervention has a tremendous effect on them, in developing their characteristics more. I am one who believes that we should stimulate and simulate what they have in the wild, and therefore we try so hard to "copy" nature, so that they don't loose the sugar glider instinct and character.

Those studies that say that animals are incapable of "love" as humans define it always depress me a bit. I definitely like to think that my dogs, gliders, and ferrets love me. Based on how they act, I really think they DO... but scientists say that this is anthropomorphism. So I try not to read those studies, and just spend a lot of time with my animals. Because I truly think they have personalities, feelings, likes/dislikes, and are capable of feeling love.

When Miss Boo-Boo sees me and is so excited, she whimpers and wiggles like a puppy, grooms me non-stop for at least 5 minutes, then dives into my bra and purrs until she falls asleep.....
When Roo grabs my chin with his hands and marks me with the top of his head, while clicking away, then takes his place in my bra, hissing if I try to remove him before he's ready.....
When Kanani and Serendipity let me walk out of the room with their newly OOP joey and they trustingly fall back to sleep.....
When Wynn does his Spiderman crawl up my arm and looks at me straight in the eye, before carefully crawling into my bra.....
When Calypso grooms (pulls) my hair, my entire face, neck and chest, before settling into my bra.....
When Saphira tried her darndest to fit herself into my bra while having two very big IP joeys.....
When I walk into the glider room each morning and say "Hi Babies!" and am surrounded by clicking, heads popping out and furry little bodies at the cage doors, vying for their turn to come out and pee on me.....
When someone else holds tiny 4 week OOP Lemur and she immediately runs onto my hand when she smells it.....
Etc., etc., etc.....
How can I not think all of this, and more, isn't love? I've always said, I can't have love without trust or trust without love. They go hand in hand, for me. So yeah, once I earn their trust, I do believe my gliders love me.

I think when a human being loves an animal big or small, they become in tune with them. Animals show love, affection, trust ect among themselves in the wild. When we become their family, they bless us with those things as well. There is no doubt in my mind that Charge (my dogo argentino) not only has feelings but just like a human, knows how I am feeling too. Animals like suggies already form a tight bond to their humans. We become part of their family. They are excited to see you, upset when you leave, happy when they play with you, mad when you take something away, and without a doubt love you.

awwww shucks
I just wanted confirmation from some other people that I am not crazy.... It's either that you are not crazy, or maybe all of us are crazy! Either way, it works for me being loved by gliders!
