Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help - I have a beloved little boy who I rescued when he was tiny - and he has a missing back leg (it was chewed off by his mother when he was just out of pouch and got it caught in the wire of the cage he was kept in). He is perfectly happy and healthy, but unable to scratch his ear due to his missing limb, and subsequently gets a lot of gunk in there and is in obvious discomfort until it is removed, which I do very carefully and non-abrasively. Could anyone recommend anything to help him? Such as a cleaning product? Many thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/gliderangel.gif" alt="" />

WOW, I never thought about how benificial the hind leg may be.
I know ferrets have that issue, and Marshals has an ear wax cleaner. I do not know anything about gliders ears, so my advice would be to ask your vet. I'm sure they would be able to help show you how, and with what(if necessary) to use.

The ears of the glider are usually very clean. If he has dirt inside of them.. my suggestion is to have them checked by a vet. He may have a mite infection and what you are seeing is the excretement from the mites.

I have a female glider with no back legs at all. she has never had any ear problems, so I agree that you should take your to a vet to make sure there isn't any other problem. Is he in with another glider?

Get him checked by a vet and see what they say.
