Hello,

I am going over the safe fruits/veggies list again on the sweet sugar gliders site, and noticed that lemon peel and orange peel are listed. Do I just peel the fruit and give them the peel, or should I grate the pith off? How much is good to give them? I'd heard that too much citrus can give suggies the runs.

Also kale, and collard greens...do I have to cook 'em first?

Thanks in advance!

I usually just grate a little lemon or orange peel and mix it with other fruits and vegetables.

As for the Kale and collard greens - I cut the fresh leaves up into small pieces. Most of the time I buy frozen Chopped Collard Greens and just put it on the glider plates frozen. It thaws in just a few minutes.

You can make a foraging toy out of Kale or Collard greens.

Cut into smaller block's circles whatever but big enough to place a mealie or treat inside then tie it closed with a fleece stripe or a heart/star link thing or anything glider safe. Place in cage and watch them tear it up to get to the center.

Friendly Reminder please have an e-collar ready before you need it......

orange peel:
when giving citrus I have always given a thin slice and then quartered of orange still on the peel..(even then.. maybe only once a week or so) Mine have *never* touched more than the fruit. It looks like they suck the juice out and leave the rest.. So~~ if you are looking to feed it I would think grated finely and mixed with other food.

As for cooking collared greens~ I never have whether using fresh or frozen I just give it that way~ (though fresh needs washed~)
So I don't think there is a need to cook it~ dunno ? mine just like it as is~ smile
