when my friend brought Cloey over yesterday she said that my room seemed glider safe.

i just want to make sure that it is (for when the time comes that i feel comfortable enough to let her run free in my room)

i'm thinking of hanging fleece toys and stuff from the walls and ceiling so that she'll be able to play up high and not be as inclined to crawl under furnature.

what are some common things to do to glider proof a room?

i'll have the curtains closed and i'm assuming i should put a cover or something over my full length mirror as well ?

Also check for any gaps under doorways (you'd be surprised at how small a hole they can squeeze through).

Put outlet plugs in all outlets (can be found in baby sections at stores).

Keep them away from any wires etc as they can chew through something quickly.

Check any air vents in the room and measure the size of the gaps, if they are large enough for a glider to squeeze through you will have to cove them with some mesh.

Make sure any celing fans are turned off during playtime.

Let other family members know when you are playing as they might open the door and if a glider were climbing on the trim this could be dangerous.

And ALWAYS stay with them when loose even if you think it's glider proofed.

Hope you all have lots of fun romping around in the new play room <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Also, if there's a couch in your glider room, be careful because I've heard horror stories of gliders getting INTO the inside of the couch and the owner then having to tear an arm of the couch apart to get the glider....I think it's always the things you DON'T think of that they manage to pull off lol.....

Just a suggestion with the wires. Because I kept Ling-Ling in the computer room (it's the warmest and most used room in our apartment) I had to worry about wires more than anything else. I got some zip pulls and bound the wires together in bunches (electric tape could work too) then I used some scrap fleece and covered the wire bundles (think the No-Sew type of ties). It turned out to be a little over kill for Ling-Ling since she was never very active, but the one time she did get under the computer desk she acted more as if she'd found a climbing toy instead of something to chew.
