We came here for an airplane seminar and when we arrived, one of my babies came down with diahrea. I've given him alot of water..nothing else available at the hotel. I did get names of vets near here before I left but does anyone have the name of a vet here in St, Augustine? And what would anyone suggest? He hasn't had any more loose stools but I wanted to talk to others who might be on here tonight if I have trouble during the night.. The only food I brought were some mealworms, which they got when we first arrived, and then baby foods and rep cal and vitamins. We'll be here for three days and then to Vero Beach for 3 days.

Definitely call around to vets before the weekend, because a lot of offices don't have many Saturday or Sunday hours. Here's a listing of FL vets: FL vets , hopefully someone from the area will be able to help you out.

Did you change their diet drastically on the trip? That could be a factor. Definitely offer lots of water or something enticing, like watered down juice or gliderade.

maybe the stress from a new place. if its only for a day i wouldnt worry to much only if it continues id get a stool ck. i dont no any vet there but im sure someone will come on that knows i only know if u look on the vets section on the glider central they will list alll states vets. when i travel i take baby food jars of sweet potatoe and apple also chicken or turkey baby food and yogurt bottled water as they can get giardia from tap water and u can but the mixed gerber baby food and mix it with the yogurt juice or apple juice like apple n eve brand which is high in calcium. mealworms alone is not a good d iet gliders need veggies fruit and protein daily and a variety of these things red delicious apples and red grapes are good to travel with cut a slice apple and wash the grapes well and cut in half. mine luv the globe grape just take out the seeds.

I just arrived in St.Augustine. Normally, they have the BML and assorted fruits and veggies. This is the first day on the "only baby food vacation". I haven't even fed them the first of the baby food diet. I usually feed them mealworms around 5 o'clock and then they sleep until play time and then dinner. Like I said before, so far there has been no more loose stool, but I was just anxious to see if I could find a vet (one that's listed in St. Augustine, but not listed on the vet list} to use in the morning if needed.

If you're staying in a hotel, they probably have a phone book in the room...maybe you could call a few vets and see if any of them have treated gliders before, that way if you do end up needing one, you know who you have your best chances with.

Yogurt isn't quite the magic bullet for calcium that everyone thinks. You might want to take a look at this thread which talks about calcium and yogurt.

An update: We only had one bout of diahrea and it was probably from being in a new place, although he travels with me everywhere. He seems fine now. Full of energy. Thanks everyone.

i agree not all yogurt is good. you have to ck the calcium. some have 10 percent others 40 percent. ive been using it for 6 yrs i think a little bit daily will never hurt

You can feed yogurt for upset tummies as well, it has good bacteria in it that helps with diarrhea. You can feed it a couple times a week. Mine love it.
It's more a protein source than calcium source.
