I thought about using these before, but when I looked at the ingredients on the carton it has garlic powder in there... that was enough for me not to even think about them again.
Thanks for posting all that information though!!!

For many years the "nutritional advice people" whoever they are, said that eggs were bad for you because they contain cholesteral. This did put many people off to eating eggs. Then a few years later they determined that the majority of the cholesteral in eggs is actually the good beneficial type but that news didn't get near as much attention as the "eggs are bad" speel did. I have been feeding whole eggs, either boiled or scrambled (as part of their diet) for 9 years to my gliders an all are healthy and thriving. While we each must decide for our own gliders, I'll continue to offer the whole egg to my gliders.

Chango - I looked at the things that were added, but evidently not very closely. I didn't notice the garlic and that is definitely a no-no.
Dancing - I should know by now not to believe everything these studies come out with. I just remembered the fat and cholesterol thing with eggs, but don't recall ever seeing anything about the cholesterol in eggs being the good kind. It's another case like butter being bad for you and margarine being good. They've changed their tune on that one too.
Thanks for your input. My reason for asking was that it seemed an option for giving Stryder egg. He can't eat a whole egg in one sitting and I was thinking with Egg Beaters I could just use a small portion of it. Anyway, I will stick to scrambled or boiled eggs.

Something I saw once on a "cooking" show... You can freeze raw eggs. So it seems to me that you should be able to scramble up some raw eggs and poor some into ice cube trays in the amount you want to use. Then thaw out the one cube and cook it up.
Now this is not something I have tried, but just something I saw on some tv show. If anyone has any additional info on this, I sure would like to know. It could be an easier way to do eggs for the gliders. (not that I have a partial egg use problem with 32 gliders!)

That's a good idea!!! About all I watch on TV are the cooking shows and H&G, so I should have remembered that. I'll have to try that. Actually what I'm doing now is freezing the leftover egg in portions. It's not ideal, but it's better than wasting it and he does eat it - at least the part he doesn't do the half moon thing with. Did that make any sense?
Dancing, you are to be admired for your care and devotion to these little creatures. In my wildest dreams, I couldn't imagine me being able to take care of 32 of them. I'm doing good to take care of one.

I have scrambled up 5 eggs at a time, given them their nights share and then froze the rest in a freezer bag for other nights. Is frozen egg precooked ok or bad? It almost sounds like you guys are saying it`s not a good thing. I do the same thing with their chicken, turkey etc. I boil a whole breast, cut it up and freeze.

Denise, I don't think anyone is saying freezing cooked food is a bad thing. It's the only way to go on some things, especially when you cook something like chicken. There's not too much in Stryder's diet that doesn't get frozen at one time or the other. Too wastful not to freeze it, especially if you only have one glider to feed. My thing on freezing cooked eggs is that they seem kind of rubbery (if that's a good description). Maybe I should do a taste test myself to see if they feel rubbery. I think next time I prepare an egg I'm going to use Dancing's suggestion - scramble my egg, portion out in freezer tray and cook one serving at a time. I don't think it really makes any difference to Stryder. He's eating about the same amount of it whether its just been cooked or thawed out cooked egg.

Thank you Becky My gliders seem to love their thawed eggs just as much as if they were just cooked (even if they are rubbery lol) I don`t think I ever noticed them feeling that way. At least they still love them, I guess that`s what matters most. I wouldn`t want to have to cook every single day (chicken, eggs ect.) but I would if I had to. Just wanted to check and make sure it was ok. I wasn`t sure if they`d loose their nutrients with being frozen.

you can freeze both cooked and uncooked eggs..
I have been known to freeze both egg whites and yolks seperately over the years.. some recipes call for only one or the other.. unfortunately, I have some issues with eating too much yolk so the yolk rich recipes are gone and I mostly just work with whites so I work with fresh eggs now.. and one white is enough to feed all 5 of our babies.. but I do want to try the boiled egg whole treat someone suggested and see what they do with it!
