I had 3 of my gliders in to see Dr. Harris today...Riker for follow up, Chronos for follow-up/surgery discussion, and Binx for a UTI...and talked to her some more about Happy. Found out a few interesting things. 1. She just got back from attending the national vet's exotics conference somewhere back east...and they didn't have much new to present on our babies...she seemed a bit frustrated by that. 2. I asked what could cause a bladder to prolapse like this...her theory is that his bladder got really full from resisting peeing (because of pain), ending up this way from that. She asked about him (Happy), too...I told her he was still hanging in there as of late last night...she was very pleased to hear that, and thinks if we can just clear the infection, and he keeps peeing, he can come through this. She is curious to find what the culture will show as to type of bacteria...culture results are still pending. When he has a follow up, Shaun, you might want to ask if this could make him susceptible to repeat infections, or if he should have more frequent follow ups to rule out UTI's...if he's going to hold it to the point of prolapse when he's uncomfortable. I'll update my guys in their own thread. Hoping for an update tonight on Happy.

Happy is doing as well as to be expected. He is still not peeing on his own, or at least not very much, because he is always bloated, and I have to "milk" him like a cow to get pee to come out. Once it starts, it doesn't shut off. By the way, surgery was not performed. She merely had him under anethesia to perform a good exam without him being in pain. But this is when he went off to say hello to his brother Grumpy and all his other glider friends, and evidently decided being home with us, at least for now, was better than Rainbow Bridge. Thanks again for all you hugs, thoughts, and prayers. Happy stills needs them (as do I to have the strength to keep going).

What a fighter! Your story is so moving. I literally had tears streaming down my face reading this. I am so happy that he is alive! He is lucky to have such a good momma. I can see in those pictures how much he loves you! I pray that he continues to fight and fully recover.

Aw, Shaun, more and prayers coming your way to you and Happy. I'm not sure how often you "milk" him, but would it help to set a timer and try a little more frequently? I'm just thinking if he's bloated and goes a lot, he's holding in quite a bit, so it might help with his discomfort. Maybe something to ask your vet about... Hang in there, and keep up the great work!
