i am going to do a deep cleaning on the gliders cage this weekend and i am unsure of a good and safe way to clean the ropes?? i have bought mine from suncoast so its the thick black ones and they are getting kinda dingy.. i was thinking of letting it soak in hot water with some soap but i am afraid i wont get all the soap out.. how about the washing machine in a pantyhose bag mesh thing so it doesnt get tangled up... ( thats all i need is to break the washing machine my husband would have a fit ) lol...
any suggestions???

Putting it in the pantyhose bag sounds like a good idea to me.
I have ropes in my cage and have been spot cleaning my ropes with a damp cloth since they get covered in BML. I need a kitchen.

I usually fill up the sink (or if I am doing wheels, I use the tub) with a little antibacterial dish soap and hot water or a little bleach and hot water and then let everything soak for a while. Then I scrub them and rinse them really good.

I wash mine in either the washing machine or the sink in Purex or Tide. No bleach on the black ones! LOL

I fill my sink up with hot water and soap and then let it soak, scrubbing a bit at any spots I see. After I let it soak for awhile, I thoroughly rinse it, and then let it soak in just hot water. After it soaks in the water for awhile, I rinse it off again a bit and then hang it out to air dry. I haven't had any problems not getting all the soap out, and this method has always done a great job cleaning ropes (and other glider items) for me.

Washing machine--delicate cycle so they don't damage machine...not much soap (we use about 1/4 cap full of ALL white bottle w/ white cap) rinse at least 3 times to get rid of all soap...we use our washing machine for their stuffed toys, too! AND, when we used wodent wheels (we now use stealth wheels), we did those in the washer, too! We have 9 cages, tho. Cage Day can be such a pain...we have learned ways to minimize the work load.
