Hi I have just been reading up on PureAyre and how some people use it on their gliders pouches, cage, toys etc to eliminate the smell. I dont think I can get it here in the U.K. I take it Febreeze wouldn't be a safe alternative? I read about PureAyre on the suncoast site and this is what it said: We have one last tip to offer on how to control odor in between washings. On a daily basis I walk by all my cages on a "PureAyre Prowl". This is a very, very safe and very effective product to use often as an odor eliminator. Do not confuse this with a disinfecting type product like Scooter's Choice, but rather as something to control unpleasant smells as needed. I mist the cage area each day, spray the inside of the Wodent wheels (I find a lot of odor is held here), I spray the outside of the sleeping pouches (while the gliders are asleep inside) and any other toys, branches, etc that may be odor catchers. Upon spraying, you will smell a different smell for a few moments as the odor eating enzymes go to work. You may also detect a faint hint of peppermint. But after a few minutes, this should all give way to the smell of just pure clean air.

I would not recommend the Fabreeze… and personally I do not like spraying anything directly on the pouches… I have used PureAyre but only to spray the bottom fleece tray liners I use…

I've recently been researching the effects of Febreeze because I'm getting a parrot soon and they are very prone to environmental issues. Febreze has been a concern among bird owners. I am happy to say that the makers of Febreze take this very seriously. They've put something on their website about it. They are researching and have yet to find a link between an illness in an animal and their product. I do use Febreze in my apartment to help control odor, but do not put it directly in the cage or on their items. I also will not use a generic version, but only Febreze. Febreze continues to research the effect on animals. I am THRILLED to find a large manufacturer that actually seems to CARE about the effect of their product on the world around them and not just in the potential profits!!!

I have both. The febreeze I use around the house, but never around my animals. The pureayre is so gentle that it says that you can spray directly on your animals. It is made from all natural ingredients and completly safe. I use it all the time. A quick spray on everything in the cage before some one comes over and they can't smell a thing. I think it is a wonderful product.

I never spray it directly on them though (bottle recommendations or no, it just sounds kinda odd to me)- I always take them out of the cage before I spray.
