I use paper towels and cut them to fit the bottom of the cage, tossing them each day or two. I keep my food in glider kitchens, so there is no food mess (or very little) on the cage bottom. I know others use fleece, cut to fit the cage bottom, and shake and toss those in the wash. I plan on trying that next. Seems more environmentally friendly.

I use newspaper becuase it is cheap. I change it often as it is so cheap and I never notice an odor coming from the bottom of the cage.

I've tried several things and I found carefresh pet bedding from petsmart works the best. It last a long time and doesnt smell. I have to change about every couple of weeks. but i have several gliders {16} to be exact. But still only two babies per cage. good luck.

I've tried a bunch of different options since I got my boys and I've had the best luck by far with puppy pee pads. I don't buy any of the brands that have been scent-treated (or whatever it is they use) to attract puppies and have never had a problem. I buy the cheapest ones I can find with the blue plastic liner because they fit my cage tray without any trimming. With North currently being treated for a UTI, his urine is incredibly stinky and the pee pads absorb the scent much better than newspaper, fleece, or loose bedding.
Does anyone else have a problem getting the poop off the fleece when they use it for a cage liner? I shook that thing out off the back porch twice a day but the poop dried too quickly and became stuck to it before I could remove it. I really wanted to use fleece since it seems so cheap and easy.

I use fleece on the bottom and change it out every day. I can't say I've had problems with it sticking. Maybe you could try flick it off with something

I've tried everything but the only thing that works in my cages is newspapers. Fleece, puppypads, papertowels, etc... all get pulled thru the cage by the little stinkers.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOOOO HOOOO, WHAT A RIDE!!!

I use the puppy pads. I haven't had a problem with it. I buy the cheapest ones. They are easy to just throw out and put in a new one. They also absorb the urine very well and don't smell.

I haven't got my gliders yet but, I was told by my cousin to use puppy pads and the carefresh bedding ... she said she hasn't had any problems with the smell.

Other than the puppy pads - they sell something similar for birds and small animals - available at wal-mart even...my guys pulled it up and it is not safe with the chemicals - I tried everything I have settled on the fleece it is fast easy and cost effective - newspaper I do not like - care fesh works great but it was too messy they liked to pick it up and play with - Do not even try corn cobb!! They had a field day tossing that around - only was that dumb once! For my fleece I tried velcro but I have some sewing to do for that to be more effective. I have hot glue and guns laying around so a dab in each corner keeps them from pulling up the fleece!

I use puppy pads because I like how they absorb. When I handle them the bottom of the pads are never wet and gross. They also seem to help neutralize the smell some. I get the jumbo ones at walmart and one pad will fit the bottom of my cage. I change them about every two days, sometimes every day depending on how messy they were the night before.

I use washable incontinance pads mad for elderly/disabled people to use to catch their accidents in chairs or bed... They have an absorbant topside and a water proof liner on the back. They are pretty much washable puppy pads. They work great! Here's an example... http://www.homecaredelivered.com/catalog/4306/Salk/1960LP/Health_Dri_Washable_Underpads_Floral.htmThat's not where I got mine, I'll try and find the link to that site...
