I have grapevine wood in skittles cage and it is starting to smell strongly of urine. I have just had it in there for three weeks. I clean the cage regularly but don't know what to do with the wood. Any ideas or good alternatives to it? She really seems to like the wood and likes to chew on it.

Unfortunatley there is not much you can do with branches and things like that. You can soak it in water and scrub it as best you can. Allow it to dry outside in the sun.

You will never be able to remove all the urine and other odors as wood is really good at soaking things into itself.

I had the same prob with my manzita perch so I poly varnished it so I can clean it and give them a suitable tree branch to play and chew on every few weeks.

the best solution has been soaking it in vinegar water and then putting it out in the sun for a bit.. but even that isn't perfect...
