I went to book a flight tonight out of Kansas City to Bangor, Maine with Delta. They quoted me a price of $240. I gasped and said when I shipped to Virginia last month, it was only $206. She said the rates are going up because of the higher fuel prices.

So, before you guys get any flights ready and have to use Delta, call ahead to get a quote. It's getting super expensive to ship now.

We haven't had Continental available to us for a while in our area. I found out that United merged with them. I called to get a quote from them as well and it was $250. So, be prepared. They are socking it to us now on fuel charges and taxes.

That's a shame, but I guess they do what they have to.

That makes it harder for me to get a new glider I live on the west coast and many of the breeders are east coasters...shipping is one of my few options.

when did this happen? I just shipped a month ago and it was only 203 with delta! I need to call them and check it from my airport... I usually use Delta for my shipping... grr!

Continental hasn't raised their prices yet. I just shipped last week and it was $165 which is the same as it has been for a few years.

The problem is that here, we don't have Continental. They have merged with United and if we use United, the price is $250. Once it happens all over, you may want to check with them again for pricing.

I just called and shipping from SeaTac to St.Louis is still the $149 plus tax so right at $165. They are merging but still working independently.

Trouble with Kansas City is that they don't have a big jet from there anymore. Once in a blue moon they do though. You just have to catch that blue moon!
