Here's a video of Little Man's laser neuter today.
WARNING: GRAPHIC SURGICAL PROCEDURE!!!

He has done wonderfully! No bleeding! No swelling! Hasn't acted as tho he has had any pain at all! He's only had pain meds twice. Is eating and drinking just fine. Is very snuggly and loving. In fact, he's staring at me right now, willing me with his eyes, to pick him up. Me thinks Elena maybe perhaps spoiled him???

I just looked at his pom and I'm amazed. It looks totally healed. Not even any pink to show where it was done. No swelling. No bruising. I will never go back to scalpel neuters! My vet said it would be $30 extra for laser neuter. TOTALLY worth the extra bucks! He's back in with Trinket. Neither one have even looked at his neuter site. He's busy marking Trinket, the cage and everything in it!

I hope this video encourages others to consider laser neuters. I think this has been so much easier on Little Man, than a normal neuter. He truly acts as tho nothing ever happened. I even took the ecollar off and I'm a big proponent of using ecollars for 24-48 hours after neuters!

Here's a pic of his pom. Incredible! It actually looks better than the pic shows. Sorry for the yellow cast to the pic. Bad lighting.

It's been my pleasure! He is the sweetest baby! Loves kisses and snuggles!!! Trinket is still getting used to me. She's a little crabby but just hides her head. She will happily take a mealie or yoggie from me tho! LOL!

You're welcome, Darby! Little Man belongs to Elena. I'm just babysitting until she is able to get a permit to have him!

I thought Elena had given them up, totally, since she's moving to the Island state. Glad to hear she's trying to keep them!

Little Man and Trinket do have a forever home with me, IF needed. But, Elena is very hopeful she'll be able to get an educational permit. No matter how long it takes, they'll always be her babies. They just live here. smile

Thanks from me too for posting this Connie! Sonic also had a laser neuter and he did perfect - never needed the ecollar at all. The day after the surgery, you couldn't even tell it'd been done. I love how easy this procedure is with the laser.

So glad these little ones ended up with you as their babysitter! Hope everything goes smoothly for Elena in pursuing a permit, but at least she knows her babies are well cared for and continued to be spoiled in the meantime! wink

I totally understand, Nancy. I can't take video or pictures without watching through the view screen. Just can't watch it any other way.

Puna was neutered today. I asked my vet to do a pom off, thinking it would be faster and easier than pom on, since it was a laser neuter. To my surprise, she did it the same as a pom on neuter at first, then took the pom off. The reasoning behind this is so the spermatic cords don't draw up into the body. I learned something new today!
Here is the video. Click on the pic to play.

WARNING! GRAPHIC SURGICAL PROCEDURE!
Laser neuter, pom off

Puna fighting the ejacket. He tried his best, but did not get it off! This video was taken immediately after he started to wake up. He fought for about 15 minutes, then calmed down and went to sleep.

How he looks 12 hours after surgery. The yellow spot is his boiled egg from dinner.

We talk about gliders grooming after a neuter and that it's ok to groom but to watch to make sure it doesn't turn into SM. Here is a video of Puna doing the good grooming. He wanted the smell off, then he went back to his grape. The grooming is halfway through the short video.

LOL! If I had to watch it NOT through a lens, I don't think I could do it! The other videos are ok to watch, although him fighting the ejacket is hard to watch.

My twins had laser neuter pom off and they did so good! They were back to normal in a few hours and playing like normal in their cage at night! No e-collar was needed. I was so impressed and happy it went so well laugh

Puna was in my shirt up until I made this post. He groomed both of us for a while, then went to sleep. I put him in his cage and he is doing great, without an ecollar or ejacket. He dis get his pain meds 7 hours ago.

For my men...Pom off Laser is the ONLY way to go!

I've only had 3 pom on neuters and even though I thought recovery time was fast for them, it is WAY faster with laser pom off.

I agree! Laser pom off is simply awesome! Puna doesn't look or act as tho he had anything done. No bruising, no swelling, no bleeding. It's just amazing!

Great video Connie.

Loved him trying to eat his grape and groom at the same time.

Thank you so much for posting these videos Connie. I love watching them and learning "up close and personal" through your lens!
In the 2nd video when Puma is waking up - is the glove filled that's filled with water and wrapped in a towel filled with warm water? Just curious if it's "function" was to keep him warm if needed or something else....

In the 2nd video when Puma is waking up - is the glove filled that's filled with water and wrapped in a towel filled with warm water? Just curious if it's "function" was to keep him warm if needed or something else....

Thank you! It's my hope to take the fear out of neutering, so people who haven't neutered for that reason, will know what actually happens.

My vet fills a glove with warm water and covers it with towels, to help keep the glider warm. Some tend to lose body heat because it's so cool in the operating room. She didn't use the towel the first time she neutered. After getting soaked when the glider's nails snagged the glove, she started covering it with a towel! LOL!
