For those of you who might purchase chain from MrChain.com pease be a advised that 2 out of the 19 colors they offer contain heavy metals for extra fade protection. These heavy metals are only in the 'Safety Orange' and 'Safety Green' colors. I was told that the 17 other colors they carry do not. I am not sure if these heavy metals are toxic to our gliders but I'm assuming that if they chew it, it's probably not healthy.
Better safe than sorry. These two colors should probably not be used in toymaking. wink

Well all of our plastic chain comes from somewhere, even bird toy/part supply places get their chain from a wholesaler. They don't make their chain specifically for animals, most of the time it's made for outdoor purposes, we just happen to buy it and use it for toys.

I was happy though, when speaking with someone at this company, that they told me this. When I informed them that probably a large majority of people who order their standard chain use it for small animals and birds, they told me they would piggy back a warning on any purchase of these two particular colors. I think that's great that they are willing to do this. smile

UGH I know! and to think how much of that material gets used for babies, animal and human, and the users dont know this! Double UGH!

I contacted my chain supplier to ask about this as well. Is there any way we can test at home for this kind of issue? I know some jewelry suppliers sell special kits that test jewelry parts for lead.
