It is often recommended to avoid the use of hamster balls as the gliders can get their claws caught in the slits in them and then run over it causing damage to their toes. I would suggest maybe a glider safe exercise wheel during tent time or just in their cage would be a better alternative.

I agree, that they can be dangerous. You do run the risk of a toe or nail getting caught and they will also go potty when in there and it can get very messy .
Tent time is the best way to have exercise with your new glider

I actually do have a wheel. I've just read about hamster balls being used and I thought that sounded like fun but I wasn't sure what size to get.

if you are going to get one, get one that was designed for ferrets and chincillas. They are much bigger. Watch your glider carefully while they are in it (in case a toe gets caught) and let them go to the bathroom before they go in the ball to help prevent that.
Balls tend to be a fifty-fifty thing here. Some people don't mind using them, others would rather have their own fingernails torn out one by one by a blind man with a spoon. There are safety hazards, but then there are safety hazards with everything.
Hope that helps!

My gliders don't use balls. During playtime, (out of cage) they have a wheel available, but they prefer jumping and climbing...on the top of curtains and playing on their fleece net...up high. Running around the floor on in a ball isn't the best exercise for gliders. When in their cages, they will run in their wheels, but only for a short while, then they jump from side to side and back in the wheel. I think some folks confine them in balls 'for their safety' but I don't think it's ideal for the gliders.
