Does anyone feed their gliders these things? I like to try new things & I've seen stuff like this on glider sites, but being somewhat of a newbie glider mom I'm not sure what the benefit of feeding your gliders stuff like this is, or if it's just nice to have as a treat?
My main concern is keeping w/in the safe zone when feeding him new things.
Any experience or opinions on these would be greatly appreciated

From what you've said in another post, it sounds like your guy is a healthy eater and is doing well. It's nice to add treats, but the benefits aren't really known, and sometimes too much variety makes them picky! Acacia gum... some debate about feeding it, since gliders are gumnivores and sapsuckers. However, we don't know the exact species of acacia gum that gliders eat, so the source of your gum would be somewhat iffy. And I don't know how much would be a treat, without throwing off diet ratios. Bee pollen is supposed to be a really healthy supplement for people, but I wouldn't give it to my gliders, because they already get supplements in their diet currently. Gliders eat flower pollen in the wild and not bee pollen, anyway. Gliderade is a treat that a lot of glider owners feed. It's a sugary treat, so I wouldn't give it often. I think it has some vitamins and such in it, but it's not really a diet supplement by itself. Mix it one part Gliderade with five parts water. It's good to encourage dehydrated gliders to drink, although juice works just as well. I think Gliderade is an expensive "nectar" to give gliders, but a lot of gliders love it. Hence why it has to be given in moderation so they don't fill up on it. I hope that helps!

Just be careful when giving *new* and exciting foods...even gliderade. Two of mine have become soooooo picky, because I served the Grand Buffet when they were younger. I do know if I give gliderade, they won't touch anything else.

You know, I did the same thing when I first got gliders. I wanted to give them everything under the sun that I thought they would like. I ordered the acacia gum, the gliderade, even some raw sugar cane sticks I saw on a site. And guess where it all went?! You got it! Right in ye ol' trash bin with about 90% of the exotic fruits and other expensive munchies I still do try some different things now and then, and sometimes I hit on a good one like the cherimoyas fruit. But all in all the basics are good and I've made mine such picky eaters, I could just kick myself. Although, today I bought a thing about the size of a kiwi called a pineapple guava. It was a buck and a half, they had better eat it..........

I've put Bee Pollen in Wombaroo, which they like. The Gliderade is liked. And Acacia Gum?! HAH! They won't touch it with a ten foot poll.

I sprinkle a little Gliderade on veggies mine aren't terribly fond of. The Gliderade is supposed to be berry flavored to entice them. Otherwise it's pretty expensive bribe food. Are we at the beckon call fo these critters or what???

I feed acacia gum to my gliders. My vet said it was a good idea, and they eat it fine. I just mix it with their regular vitamins and sprinkle it on top of their food.
