this is the only pellet food available here, has anyone used this brand before? it's by sunseed, you can see the packaging here: http://www.sunseed.com/prodcatWSQNCMJ4.html

according to the label, it says that the pellet food should make up 50% of the diet, while the remaining should be 40% vegetables and 10% fruits... it also recommended mealworms and crickets.

from what i know, this doesn't sound like an ideal diet for a sugar glider.. especially since eating hard pellets can cause jaw problems? my baby's currently on darcy's diet but refuses to touch his proteins so i thought this would help to add some protein into his diet.

analysis of pellets {%):
crude protein - min. 25
crude fat - min. 7
crude fibre - max 6
moisture - max 10
calcium - min. 2.25, max 2.75
phosphorus - min. 1.2
salt - min. 1.2, max 1.4
vitamin a - 6000IU/lb

would greatly appreciate any feedback!

I don't like to be so negative about a product, but this one warrants my opinion in large letters: NO, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

I was given a FREE can of this stuff a long time ago.....and it ended up in the TRASH CAN!!!! The pellets are hard as rock---if you cannot break it with your thumb, it will cause problems called "lumpy jaw" in your sugarglider! To make it soft enough, you have to soak the pellets in fruit juice, and even then they WILL NOT eat it!!

If you want something that will be healthy for your suggie, order the sugarglider diet from www.brisky.com---it is so soft, you can crumble it with your thumbnail! It costs approximately $25.00 USD, but it's WELL WORTH THE COST!

that's the problem, while i'd be willing to pay 25 USD for it, the cost of shipping it halfway around the world would cost quite a bit. would this be okay if i soaked it in juice? i definitely won't be using this as a staple since he's already on darcy's..

If he is already on a diet plan you really don't need to use the Quicko. If you want to put some day time snacks out you can leave some freshly chopped carrot or even grapes. Or you can offer them a few fruit or veggie snacks by hand during the day (better for bonding) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Quiko is the "sugar glider food" that is now being found at Petsmart and Petco. In all honesty, I have to admit it does have a good ingredient list, and it can be softened, but my sugar gliders wouldn't eat it. The thing I dislike about Quiko is there is no complete diet recipe for it given with the box.. just recomendations.. and there should always be something specific for your gliders by a vet or other animal nutritionalist. So while Quiko does have potential, I would recommend a proven diet over that.

You might try mixing the protein with the Ensure in a bowl. The flavor of the Ensure on the protein might encourage your glider to eat it. Wouldn't hurt to try it a time or two.
