I'm not sure i this is the right spot or not but here goes.

Do you have to have a license to breed your sugar gliders even if you dont sell them? And if so how does one go about getting a license? I've only got one glider right now, Tatl, but eventually I want to get a boy and see if they like each other enough to mate. Or at least a friend for her. I have very bad insomnia and I'm usually up when she is, but I know eventually she'll need a friend. Is it ok to breed them(when/if I do get a boy)? or should I just not worry about it? I'm very new to owning a sugar glider even tho I've been wanting one for close to 10 years now lol.

I believ as long as you dont have 3 breeding females your okay.Im not for sure but thats why i only have one breeding pair ive hurd its kind hard to get,but if your not wanting to sale the joeys i would have more themn one pair anyways because before you knew it youd be overwhelmed with sugs.

If you have linage on them its fine but you do not want to breed gliders without linage.Even if you get two gliders from different states they can still be closly related and with out linage there is no way to tell for sure.I just bought a male mo and i was looking for a mate for him and you would not believe how many gliders i have looked at that were closly related but lived in different states. Its because breeders sale there gliders online alot so they ship them all of the us.

With only one breeding pair, you are not required to have a license. Honestly, even if you wanted a license they wouldn't give one to you (less work for them, plus you wouldn't qualify). Now, these are USDA standards, I don't know if you have any local standards to comply with.

Anyone with more than 3 breeding females are required to have a USDA license. To obtain a license, you must contact your local region and request a packet. Once you receive it, you fill it out, pay the $10 application fee and send it in and wait. They will eventually contact your for an inspection. If you pass, then you pay the license fee and get a license in the mail. You are then subject to surprise annual inspections. You just resubmit your paperwork with your license fee each year to remain licensed.

Like Amanda said. You do not have to have a licence for just 1 pair. But it is not advised to breed gliders without lineage.
