Try using a drinking straw dipped in yogurt for licky treats. Three licks and reload.
I cut my straws in half so I dont go through as many.
Remember if you are scared he will be able to sense that and it will make him scared...
I am sure someone else will offer other advise that has more experience than I..
Nanuk bites but its more of a "oh, that wasnt an orange or mealie, Huh Ma?" LOL

I was really scared of my first glider when I got her, too! After having hamsters for so long, I guess I developed a bit of a phobia of getting bitten. Because when they bite, they BITE!
But then once she did bite me, I realized it was a piece of cake! It's usually just a light testing nip, like when someone pinches you.
If you take things at his pace and just rest your hand in the cage for him to smell, he might nip a little to see what you are, but I think it's pretty rare for them to actually draw blood unless they're mad about something
Does he have a cagemate? That might help keep him from biting you. My rescue girl was a little devil until we adopted her boy toy for her. Her attitude changed within a day!
The actual key to her heart was food. I'd hand feed her yogurt and mealworms. Now she might bite if I accidentally bother her or if she thinks I'm food, but that's about it!

Your glider will let you know when he's going to bite. Watch for the signs and pull your hand back. I've had rescue gliders slowly come towards my hands, ears back, body low to the ground and their mouths slowly opening. That's how they let me know they're going to bites, so I move my hand back.
Gliders have a fight or flight instinct. If they can't run away and hide, they're going to fight, which means crabbing, lunging and biting, in that order. The last thing they want to do is fight.
I agree with Aimee about using tweezers to help you overcome your fear. One day soon, you'll be able to lay your hand in the cage with a treat in your palm and the next thing you know, you'll have a suggie sitting in your hand, happily eating.

ive been bitten and it really doesnt hurt. In my experience, they will eventually stop biting because mine rarely do now. using a straw or a hard spoon to feed licky treats will definately help.

make sure the yogurt doesnt have that aspertame stuff in it... I dont like the taste of the aspertame. I found some yogurt for toddlers at my grocery.. one is sweet potato vanilla (I think) Nanuk likes that one.. He also LOVES Blueberry Yogurt... The biting isnt all that bad, its more like a pinch. When he does that back off a couple of inches, wait for him to calm down and try again.. Gliders feed off of emotions like other animals. They can tell when you are upset, or not yourself. It will make them uneasy... Take your time, take it slow... You BOTH have to trust each other for a relationship to form
