I just gave my 4 normally very calm friendly gliders some fresh figs last nite...they were totally GONE this morning, but all 4 acted really wierd, like I was a stranger to them, even Dash, who is ALWAYS friendly and eager to come out...he jumped off of me, which he never does...I dont think my shirt had a very bad unusual smell, but its possible...Has anyone noticed this behaviour change with figs? They sure are GOOD

I have never fed figs before to my gliders, but that is an interesting reaction. Maybe someone who has fed figs (or know's more about figs in the diet) will come along shortly to help with your question. I must tell you - the title of your post is hillarious!!

I, personally love figs, I was wondering if they are appropriate to feed to gliders though because they do contain quite a few very tiny seeds.

Figs are great for gliders and in fact have a very positive Ca:P ratio!

A little off topic, but I've also seen that they have a good Ca:Ph, but was wondering about what ones to get. I've always seen the dried ones in the produce section, and I think I saw fresh ones ONCE in a specialty fruit market. Would the dried ones be ok? I would assume you'd still want to look out for the addition of perservatives, right?

You can usually get half-dried ones from health stores! They're still moist and squishy.

Yeah, that's usually what I see. I just didn't know how to describe them. I like trying new fruits out as often as possible--trying to put together my list of what my glider loves, will eat if he has to, and "ick, what are you doing offering me this?!?!"

I feed mine fresh and dried figs (they are the squishy ones!) and have no problems. I push them on the hanging pole thing and they love them. Its great watching them too.

Good to know how much the love them and that they are nutritious. I've been weary about buying them, as they tend to be expensive. My luck, my boy (soon to be boys) would HATE them. I'm assuming the dried ones would also last quite a while.
I also like that idea of hanging them somewhere else in the cage. I like giving them the challange of finding hidden food, and not just having it in a food dish. Looks like I'm adding them to the shopping list anyway!
