Does anybody here feed it? Know anybody who does/did? If so, how did the gliders do? What baby cereal did you use?
We've been thinking of switching our gliders to it but I'm unsure of it because I haven't seen much about it, but it would definitely be much easier which is why it attracts me now.

You need to talk to Dancing, she is the creator of that diet and has fed it for years. She'll be able to answer those questions for you. smile

I switched to it from the HPW diet. I was concerned about the amount of honey in the HPW.

For the first week, I offered each cage full servings of both diets, on opposite sides of the cage. From the first day, they all preferred the Reeps.

I've had no problems with the Reeps. My gliders are healthy and very active. I do make my own baby chicken baby food, with a Black & Decker food processor. It's cheaper and I prefer knowing exactly what's in it. I use Gerber Rice cereal.

I haven't regretted switching.

I understand that the creator would be the best one to talk to, but I also wanted the input of other's about what their experiences with the diet were before I made the final decision to switch over.

I've fed it to my gliders for over 7 1/2 years now. Dexter was on it for 7 years and was over 14 years old when he died. His mate was over 12 (also on it for 7 years). I have MANY gliders that are over 7 yrs old and have never had any diet but Reep's. I have 8 gliders that are 10 years or older right now. Some that were rescues that came to me in HORRIBLE shape with a very short life expectancy but are still with me and thriving.

I have 28 gliders right now, which includes intact males (soon to be neutered), neutered males, non breeding females and breeding females. All are at healthy weights. The joeys born here come oop between 14 and 22 grams with 18 being my average oop weight.
This is my youngest joey Mia. She was oop 12-11-2011. She was 19 grams oop and was 38 grams at 3 weeks oop when this photo was taken.

None of my gliders have had any honey in 7 1/2 years. While honey does have some VERY healthy benefits, I just don't believe gliders need all the sugar that is in most diets. I don't think it is necessary or healthy for them to have the honey in every meal they get.

I did originally try bee pollen in the mix but my gliders didn't like it and wouldn't eat it.

My gliders are active, have healthy soft fur, don't stink (even my intact boys don't stink but I only have 2 intact boys and they are in separate rooms). I have 12 cages total and have clean dishes in every cage 29 days out of 30 (some have a off night every now and then).

I feed it just as it is on my website (the one in the diets link) and seldom if ever vary it.

Thanks for replying, and cute joey!
I'm pretty sure that I'm going to switch over to it, the more I contemplate it, the more it seems like it would be the best.
They've never really seemed fond of their HPW but they've always eaten it, probably because it was there and they were hungry though.
Couple of questions though, the Gerber cereal rice with mixed fruit is ok to use?
And it's teaspoons of the mix and not tablespoons?

If they're eating their diet, why change? If they didn't like it, they wouldn't eat. Just curious dunno

Aimee, they've never seemed too fond of the HPW and after having 2 joeys, we upped the HPW at first because the joeys seemed to be helping mom and dad clean their plate (8 weeks old now) but we've had to cut back again because they seem to be eating it, but not nearly as much as before.
Another reason touches on personal stuff, so the short of it is, with me working 2 jobs and having little to no help with them now, it would make food prep time much easier.

I tried it and was so excited about it but unfortunately my gliders didn't care for it frown I'd say to give it a shot though. The batches are small so you've got nothing to lose smile

We've already determined that if they don't eat it then we'll give the stuff to make it to a local rescue who has gliders.

If you are going from a very sweet mix (like BML or HPW) try mixing in a little honey and then slowly decreasing the honey until there isn't any. Some gliders get so used to that super sweet mix that they don't like a diet without it.

Over the last 7 years, every glider that has come in here (rescues/rehomes/joeys) have been put immediately on Reep's and I've never had one not eat it.

keitorin, here's the link to the diet: http://www.freewebs.com/dancingwatersdesigns/reepsdiet.htm

Tlc you can do a web search, we used to buy it from sweet sugar gliders, but they repackage theirs so we are going to start buying it from http://thepamperedglider.webs.com/supplements.htm because you can buy it in the original packaging.
