I use a drill to make holes in toys. A nail would probably work too.

That is Hardware or Landware Cloth. It can be found in the gardening section (I think) at Lowe's/Home Depot. All the hardware cloth I'm seeing at Home Depot (I haven't looked at Lowe's) has a galvanized coating. Isn't that toxic for sugar gliders? Do you know a specific brand that is safe for them?

I was told that galvanized (zinc) coating can cause UTIs when it reacts with urine...is vinyl better? If so, can you find vinyl-coated mesh?

Here is what most people use to make the PVC cages out: Hardware Net And this is similar to what I used to make some toys (I can't seem to find it on the Home Depot website at the moment: Vinyl Coated Hardware Cloth

Other than braided fleece rope vines, the only toys I made are these baskets 2nd basket with revised hanging method. First basket, changed the hanging method to like 2nd one, and use for back up 'cause I like the second one better.
