After my son gets his grey glider we're afraid we wont be able to tell the difference between his glider & mine. So.... How do you tell the difference between joeys? And how long are they called "joeys"?

You may see slight differences in their stripes as well, some are thinner/thicker, longer/shorter. I call them joeys until they are a few months old ~ that's up to you. There is not set time they are considered joeys.

Personality is how you'll tell at first. My 2 joeys were very different. One was very hyper and playful while one was calm and laid back. Then eventually you can tell them apart by physical features. Once I had mine for a while, I saw that they had totally different faces. One had small eyes and a flatter head, the other had bigger eyes and his head wasn't as flat.

like all parents of twins, you will be able to tell them apart. My girls even smell a little different and I can tell them apart that way too.

Mine are easy to tell apart because my boy is "normal" size and my girl is a tiny little furrball

There are so many ways - size, personality, coloring, shape, etc. Like JillMarie said above, just like the parents of twins, you'll be able to tell

I have 2 leus and I thought I could tell em apart at first by personality but now they are oth getting used to me so the more Leary of me one is now just as curious as the other! There s a slight difference in skull shape but i cAn only tell if they are side by side! I may dye 1 pink! (lol just kidding!)

I have 29 gliders (currently) and I can NOT imagine how confusing it would be to have them all be leus! No way I would know who is who! Most times I have to really study my twin lion sisters to tell them apart and they ARE different in looks...

So many good answers here! As for how long to call them joey's I stopped calling mine joey's when they lost there "baby" look.

The two things I look at first when trying to get to know one glider from another is the distance between the tip of the head stripe and the nose and the length of the black tip on their tail.

One head stripe will likely end closer to the tip of the nose than the other. One will probably have a slightly longer black than the other - If you can identify both characteristics you will be able to identify them coming and going. Tail differences can also include the shape of the tip. Some of my gliders have a pointed tip and a few have a slightly blunt tip.

Tail ID helps me know who is hiding behind the wheel or in a toy with only their tail peeking out.

I purposely make sure that I never have two in the same cage that are the same color, but that isn't an option for everyone. Leus are terrible to tell apart, but you still can by their heads... Their skull shape, the set of their ears, and their eyes. Some have fluffier tails, and even the color variation between different grays can be a little bit different.

If you have gliders you are having trouble telling apart...CAREFULLY clip just the end HAIRS on the tail of one so it is flat across instead of coming to a point. MAKE SURE YOU DON"T CUT THE TAIL!

The hair will regrow so this is only a temp solution but can easily be done when you are clipping nails.

I actually have 3 leus but oly two are housed together but. Am hoping after neuter third will go in s yes, even more confusing!!!!!!

Its very subtle and only possible when they are right next to each other. It looks more obvious is the pics because of the angle.

our twin joeys Dweezil & Moon unit are easy for me to tell apart now. Dweezil is sweeter then moon and Dweezil has a darker face then moon. also the face shape is different. you will see differences between your gliders. for example moon unit doent like me and dweezil likes me. Moon unit is hyper and dweezil is calmer
