skeeter and kiko are in seperate cages. kiko is getting fixed monday. so when do i start the pouch swapping during the next 30 days or wait 30 days then do it and how long do i do this? will it make any difference if i swap pouches or just swap them in each others cages? skeeters pouch is attached and hard to take down to be swapping it so if i can id rather just swap them.

If you are following a quarantine, then you need to wait the 30 days before you start swapping their stuff. You want them to have no contact with each other or each other's things during quarantine. When you do start swapping, it is best to start with just their pouches or scent blankets (start small). If you swap their entire cages it could be really overwhelming to them and stress them out. Is there any way you can connect Skeeter's pouch to clips and then just move the pouches and clips all together each time you switch?

I don't think you need to wait 30 days for his hormones to leave his body, I have honestly never heard that. Typically after a neuter, the male can go right back in with his family. I agree that it would be easier to use a different type of clip on the attached pouch so you can switch pouches; start with blankies now though. No reason to wait. Maybe this will help: Safe Introductions

How old are they? Are they both male? I *think* I understand what you are saying (you want intros to go as well as possible and don't want male-ness getting in the way, if I'm understanding correctly, lol). If they are still fairly young, it really shouldn't be an issue and it is up to you. If you are following a quarantine, wait 30 days. If it's mostly about the hormones, as Shelly said, I wouldn't worry about that.

Skeeter is about 5 years old. Kiko is about a year or more. They are not related and have never been housed together. Skeeter came from me, as a cage mate for Pam's 1st glider - the 1st one passed away and she got Kiko from Bourbon at the SGGA. Kiko just got neutered today. Skeeter has been neutered for many years. I believe that Kiko may have some "needs to be worked with" issues also - so Pam may want to direct her questions directly to Bourbon who will probably want to help Pam with how the intros get done Basically, though, you wait the 30 days and ensure both have a clean fecal at the vet. They you start the swapping.

just wondering after the 30 days waiting on Kiko to heal & his hormones to leave how much longer would you wait to do intros? How do you do yours?

Have you followed quarantine procedure? I havnt seen a real answer if you have or not, so if you can answer these we can help you alot better. 1.) Have you swapped pouches at all? 2.) Have you swapped any blankies or toys? 3.) Are the gliders housed in different rooms? If the gliders havnt come in contact to eachothers scent at all and are housed seperatly then continue doing the quarantine till the 30 days is up. Once the 30 days is up, then you can start swapping blankies and pouches. After a few days of this, I would place there cages next to or across from eachother, atleast 6-8 inches apart, so noone can grab eachother tails. Leave them like this for a few more days and watch how they interact with eachother. If you see chattering, hissing, barking, and mocking eachother these are all good signs. I would then try a intro. If you have already swapped or not done the quarantine correctly, as soon as your glider who was nuetered is recovered from surgery you can do intros, but just swap and place the cages near eachother until then. If the intro is successful I would have a nice clean cage ready for them so they can scent it together! Hope this has helped a little bit.

well i thought i was doing quarentine and the 30 days to let kikos hormones leave his body after getting fixed at the same time but found out i was doing it wrong. I was thinking they arent in the same cage so i was doing quarentine... but i didnt know they arent supposed to even be in the same room and i wasnt washing my hands or changing clothes when messing with them both. I even started swapping the blankets thinking i was killing 3 birds with 1 stone but now i know better we live & learn hopefully. But no i didnt do quarentine. had cages 6-8 in apart so they could be getting use to each other for when intros happen. Since I messed up quarentine and we have been swapping all along how would you go about intros themselves? The last time & my 1st time I used the tub and vanilla extract it worked great but i was told thats bad to.

Have you done the bonding pouch thing yet? If so, try to intro them in a neutral area, like a tent or the bathroom. Make sure its an area that they will be contained and that you can get to them quickly in the event there are any issues. ETA: Did you get a chance to read the Safe Intro Article? Based on your description, I think you may be ready for step 3 (but please read the article first to make sure you're not rushing things.) 3. You'll wear two bonding pouches in this step. Put the glider in cage "1" in one pouch and put the cage "2" in the other bonding pouch. Wear the pouches at the same time for at least 2 hours a day for 1 week. During this time continue to do pouch swapping every night with the cages still sitting side by side. 4. Find a neutral place where neither glider has been and where there is no glider scent. You can use a pop up tent or even your bathroom for this step. Take a lot of toys and pouches in the tent or bathroom. Make sure you also have treats on hand like yogurt drops or meal worms. Then bring both gliders to the neutral play area that is set up. Turn the lights on low so the area is not bright. Open their pouches and lay them down on the floor and wait for them to come out or bribe them with treats. Never pull them out or force them to come out of their pouches. They should come out on their own. 5. After they come out of the pouches let them explore until they find one another on their own. Watch their body language closely. If you see a glider balling up and crabbing at the other glider then separate them and go back to pouch swapping. If both gliders are not showing any signs of fighting and they are just sniffing, grooming, and rubbing their heads on each other or if they both decide to go into a pouch together, then sit quietly and watch to see what happens. Due the introduction play time for at least 30 minutes unless they are fighting and need to be separated. If the first intro play time went well then make the play time longer the next night. If it is also a success with no fighting you'll continue to make the playtime longer each night. Repeat this step for 7 days before moving on to the next step.

The last time & my 1st time I used the tub and vanilla extract it worked great but i was told thats bad to. I don't know who told you that was bad but they are either misinformed or maybe they just prefer a different method of intros and chose to "down" the method that they don't like to use themselves - it's perfectly fine to use the "vanilla bathtub method" of introductions. I have never had a vet tell me it's "bad" in any way, shape or form.
