Hi all! I'm new to the forum here. I have a 9 week old (Oop) male glider who is extremely sweet, named Milo. I don't have many good photos of him yet as he is very wiggly at times..Here's a few I got of him in my pocket, while he was very sleepy.

Glad to hear that! They're colony animals so they're much happier when they're housed with their own kind to cuddle up with grin

Hmm, the only ones I have of them together right now are ones of them in a food dish and in a red solo cup...will those count? hehe

Well, for now just the ones of the solo cup...I cant find the food dish one.

Thanks. We'll throw them away soon. We're only using them until the gliders bond with us and if they're up and running around or while in public. Once they're in a shirt or pouch, off they come. Too many places for them to get loose otherwise. We don't have a good spot set up yet to let them out to explore leash-less.

You might want to get a tent! Amazon is a great place to find them. The genji tents are popular for gliders. Then you can take toys inside and sit and play with them.
The leashes aren't a good thing to have on at all...but I know it can be scary about them getting away!
Congrats on the new gliders, they're adorable!

We're going to get a tent soon! The leashes are just to get us by...to give us that split second of reaction time that it takes for them to dash away! We know they're not the greatest thing to use, but it's better than a lost glider. lol

Great! You can also use a bathroom instead of a tent. Many people do bathroom time. Make sure the toilet is secured and closed and any other holes plugged up.
They like to climb the shower curtains and they wouldn't need leashes in there.
Most people do this at night or early morning as this is when they are awake and ready to play! You can also work on bonding as well during this time.

I'm in Arlington.

Here's the deal on the leashes and being in public. If you're afraid that your gliders can/will get away, then they shouldn't be out. Instead, use a bonding pouch. My gliders are very bonded to me, but they are still secured when I am out. The leashes can do damage to their patagium, not something you want to have happen. If your gliders are running away, they aren't bonded. Rather than the leashes, work on building a relationship with them and getting to the point where they WANT to stay on you.

They haven't run away from us at all yet. It was more to keep them from deciding to make a dash toward a vent cover than anything. But I'll make sure we stop using them. I found a tent we are going to order, and generally we keep them in the pouch, leashless, when we go out town with them.

Oh, and you're not far from me then in Arlington...about 2 hours or so. I'm near Charlottesville.
