Hi, this is my first time posting. I have a trio of gliders that all have the possibility of carring a Leu Gene. I have a little female that has a joey in pouch and I believe it should be OOP within the next week. Question is....she was on the side of the cage last night and we got a really good look at the [censored] and tail sticking out of the pouch and the tail looks like it's a very white pink. If it was a normal colored glider would the tail already have pigment to it? It is definately not black.
Any comments would be welcomed.
Thanks

Joeys will be pink until shortly before they come oop. This joey may or may not have unusual coloring to it. (based on there being leu in the family tree)
It will be interesting to see pics when the joey finally does come oop!

It is very possible that you have a leu joey on the way. The pigment usually changes from a pinkish color to the gray/black anywhere from a few days from oop to 3 weeks from coming oop.

I will see if I can get a picture of it tonight. She has been laying in my hand and letting my see her joey move....but now for the last two days she isn't interested in sitting in my hand. This is our fist joey, so I don't know what to expect. How long after you start seeing little body parts polking out do they come OOP? The joey looks very tiny still to me. I have looked at a ton of pics of 1 day OOP joeys and they look bigger than this one. I'm just hoping with this being a Trio and all their first that the joey makes it. From the looks of it I think she only has one in pouch. The other female in the trio is also expecting 2 joeys but she isn't as far along.

usually if a trio is not going to work they will not let each other carry joeys for longer then a week. So I'd say you are doing great. First time mommas do have a higher rate of rejection though, so make her life as stress free as you possibly can. Do what you have been doing (if she likes it). Give extra protien and calcium. These are all things to help stop rejection. Here is a great site to read and memorize just in case of Rejection.. how to hand feed .
Joeys usually start sticking parts out (to torture us!) anywhere from a few day- 3 weeks before. I have a leu het female that with her 2 joeys (singles each time) lets parts hang out 3 weeks before they are to come oop. So if your is looking a little tiny (is it shinny wet looking or does it look like it has peach fuzz hair coming on) it might be a few more weeks before it is oop.

[:"green"]Once parts start poking out of the pouch, it is usually within a week that the joey comes oop (sometimes a little longer or shorter, depending...) Congrats on the expected joeys & Welcome to GC !

Okay, I've been trying to get pictures. But she isn't showing any interest in coming out of the pouch the last 3-4 days like she usually does. I can sit with the pouch on my lap and feed them meal worms and she will turn over and I can see the babies out of the pouch but still attached I believe. They (2) are completely white and getting a peach like fuzz on them, they are both boys. Then tonight I saw a third in the sleeping pouch. Now I have three gliders in there so the tangle of little bodies gets confusing. Sukari the female that I have been seeing the 2 white babies with is so much larger (pregnancy wise)then Stella the other female, that I assumed she was just much further along. But tonight we definately saw a third joey and it definatly has a black tail and looks about the same size as the 2 white ones. I keep trying not to get my hopes up.....but wow to get a white one would just be awsome!

Well one of the white babies is definately OOP officially today. And there are no signs of any color. It was making a whistling like noise a little while ago and she scooped it up and shooved it in the pouch then came out to play for a few minutes. The other joey from the same mom looks like it still might be attached.
And it's official the little black tail is from the other mom. I had no ideashe was this far along. The baby is smaller but not that much.
So is it possible from two 66% hets to actually get 2 white babies first time around? And now that they are OOP or almost, when will I know for sure....how much longer can it take for the pigment to appear if it's going too?
My Sugar Gliders have long been my stress relief at the end of along day....and I always enjoy my time with them....but i have to say....I am obsessed. As soon as I can get pictures without feeling like I will upset her I will.

Congratulations are probably in order!
Does the joey have any hair? Peach fuzz? If it has no hair at all.. it's probably premature. If the ears are still translucent, you probably have a Leucistic joey.
Joeys usually have pigment by time they are 7-10 days of coming OOP.
I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago.. little white tail.. no color.
[:"green"]Since they still don't have any pigment, then it sounds like you definitely have TWO BEWs!!! Congrats!!! We want to see pictures soon!!!
I love those pictures of Leucy (and the name is great, too!)
I don't know what to tell you the chances are of have a bew the first time around, but I know it is rare to have twin bew only 2 others that I know of have had twins. You know now that your 66% hets that had these joeys are now 100% het right?!!!
Congrats and I can't wait to see pictures
attached is a picture of Becs tiwns at a week oop with their cute daddy (who was 50% het and proved his first time with these two)
