I had a question about feeding eggs to my gliders. If it isn't blended in as part of the diet but is supposed to be served seperately as a protein source what is the best way to feed. If I cut a hard boiled egg up into chunks will they actually eat the whites too. I'm just worried they'd eat nothing but yolk if it isn't blended.

I'm going to try out Darcy's diet and I would like to be able to switch my protein source. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I think you pretty much answered the first part already......
What I mean is; Lots of Darcy diet users do scramble the eggs, which would be blending them, and that way you won't have the picky egg eater problem ...... as for the other portion of your post, someone will be along to help you soon....

Hi Kristine! When I feed eggs, I either beat it with a fork in a bowl and the microwave to make scrambled or hard boil them and then smash them up with a fork. I've never had a problem with them only eating the yolk, but if you're worried about it, you can go with the scrambled <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I do not use Darcy’s diet so I am not sure what you mean by switching out the protein source…. Just wanted to mention that when preparing eggs that no butter / oil or seasoning should be used …

I have fed over time as a protein source/treat scrambled in the nuker eggs or a whole hardboiled egg... its amazing what they'll do to the whole egg if its untouched and put out for them...

I feed Darcy's diet and give egg as a protien source a few times a month. My gliders don't seem interested in scrambled eggs so I hard boil them. I just cut up the egg in fairly large chunks and put it in their bowl. They always eat the yolk first but the whites are also gone by morning.

thanks everyone! I'll try scrambling, no butter or boiling and then mashing to bits. When they get older and I'm not so worried about finniky baby appetites I'll try a whole boiled egg just to see if they'll actually eat the whole thing. I bet they'll have fun pulling it apart at the least.
