(I am posting this separately from the other thread in order to try and get an answer before morning, in case there is someone with experience in this area.)

So after surgery, my girl wouldn't calm down unless she is being held 24/7. Sometime in the interim, she has pulled at her fingernails, and they have bled a little. There is also one toe that she is holding at an awkward angle. Maybe broken. Maybe. Hard to tell. It isn't discolored.

I called the emergency vet, and they told me there was pretty much nothing they could do tonight, since she has pain meds, a collar, and antibiotics. So what I am wondering, is will the super overpriced specialist be able to do anything for her either, since she is already in the collar, antibiotics and pain meds? The vet was saying even for dog and cat toes, there is nothing they can really do to set them.

Anyone with experience in this issue? What did they do for your glider? I plan on calling the specialist and asking her before the appointment, but I have already annoyed the heck out of this woman with 50million questions since. She seems not to want to deal with me very much, so I'd like to avoid bothering her with another visit (and the cost, but that is secondary) if there is nothing they can do other than look at it.

Edit: Also important to note, that she does have an appointment on Monday, regardless of tomorrow.

I'm sorry that I don't have any advice to offer you but hopefully someone with more experience will come along soon.

I don't think there is anything they can/will do to set a broken toe. As for the fingernails, they may or may not grow back based on the amount of damage done.

Apparently I am being an over-paranoid mommy. The vet says she is healing well, and her weight is fine. The nail may fall off, but it is okay. And her toe looks fine, but they wouldn't do anything else if it did happen to be broken.

And no charge for the visit, thankfully.

This happened to Geo and because it was broken in two places Dr. Wright thought it was best to amputate it. It broke my heart but he didn't seem to mind at all.

Funny in a non funny way, Juno has two swollen toes and the lower half of his foot now. I've had him on antibiotics and an antiinflammitory, but the swelling is not going down and this is day 4. If its not down by the morning I'm taking him to the vet, because I'm begining to wonder if his foot is broken. I just learned they make little animal sam splints. I had no idea they did. I've used them on human patients in the field, but I didn't know they make them for little tiny animal feet.
