I'm freaking out right now. Its almost 10 at night and I just realized something is wrong with my joey. He is just pushing himself around the bottom of the cage. Like walking fast. He always is fiesty and doesn't let me hold him. Tonight he came to me, it looks like something might be wrong with his chest/neck. On his belly side. He just keeps walking around the bottom of the cage. The mom is out of the pouch and acting fine and the dad hasn't came out. I don't know to sperate him from them or what.

He also just keeps pushing his face up to stuff and stops. Like he's pacing around the bottom of the cage. I tried to put him back into and towards the pouch and he wanted nothing to do with it.

I'm not really sure what he is doing. With such a quick change in behavior, you may want to have him checked out with the vet.

Have you been monitoring his weight? If so, is there an increase/decrease recently?

Has he been eating normally? Does he appear dehydrated?

Ok now that I'm actually awake and figuring everything out... its the dad not the baby... I know this sounds dumb but I'm in a panic. The mom is the only one thats always been friendly and curious and needs to investigate everything and not skidish. I currently have him in another cage with a few pouches and some fruit. I also don't know of any vets anywhere near me that do sugar gliders.and I have to be at work at 5am.

Can you tell if there is any swelling on his face/chin area that he is rubbing?

I'm going to move this to Health and Hygiene now, hopefully you'll get some other suggestions.

If you click on the word vet, it will take you to the database. You can see if there are any in your area.

No swelling on the face or chin. Currently he looks a tad smaller. Nothing serious though. But no I haven't kept track of weight. I live basically in Cleveland. Garfield heights to be specific. Like I said there appears to be some sort of injury in his upper chest/neck. Not sure how it would if happened. Unless him and mom got in a fight?

I think the closest ER vet is going to be Akron for you.

Is mom in heat? Is there any chance that he is overmarking the cage? Just trying to think of anything it could be.

If you can't tell that its something like him marking, as an example, he will need to be seen by a vet. You may want to contact Dr. West with

I don't think mom is in heat. She actually has a small lump in her poucharea looking like she has had another baby again aall ready. (Not good!) What do they do while scenting? It seams more then just that. And like stated it looks like something is wrong on his chest. The other cage I put him in. I put food in last night. It doesn't look like he came out to eat at all

The scent glad on his chest just doesn't look normal I guess.. maybe he is over scenting and acting up because of the joey getting older? Was it a bad decision to pull him from the mom and joey? Should I have left him with the mom he is bonded with and pulled the joey instead? I'm positive Jan 21 will be 8 wekks oop. It could be even before then by a few days. So would pulling it now be bad? I have seen him eat the bml diet.

I am so very sorry hug2

It would be a good idea to have mom and baby vet checked to make sure they are okay even if they are showing now signs of illness at the moment.

I am moving this now to Rainbow Memorials as well as editing the title since it was not the joey as originally thought.
