Hello all!

So! I have done a lot of research for a while now and ended up getting a beautiful sugar glider named Nadia. She is still young, but extremely sweet. When I got her, the breeder said that her mother had passed away so she has been hand fed her entire lifetime since. Anyway, I absolutely love her and just got her on Friday.

The cage I have for her is big enough for 2-3 gliders and she loves to run around it - I am also feeding her the HPW(REEPS wombaroo diet) and she loves that too. I give her fruits and veggies along with yogurt every other day.

Here's my problem: We have been bonding pretty well. She grooms me, runs on top of me, and loves taking treats for me. We do tent time for an hour-hour and a half each night and before that I spend quality time with her in my bra or in her pouch. She runs around a LOT and when we are in the tent she does laps which is very cute.

I don't always see her drink water and that slightly bothers me, but I know she knows how to use it. When I try to put it into a bowl she laps it up a little then continues to play. So tonight when I put her up from tent time, she was still super hyper and wouldn't stop jumping all over the place. Then as I walked away, she made this loud hissing sound or something that sounded almost like a cricket. Everything that is in her cage, she has become accustomed too. I did move around a couple of things but that was only to reach for a bowl to refill it. I also turned on the air conditioner a little bit after I put her up, but the air conditioner has been off and on for a while.

Afterwards I let her come onto me and she ran around me for a bit before starting to crab shortly. She then jumped all over me and went back into the cage and continued to run around.

I don't know if there is something wrong or if this is just her being a bit teenager-y.

She does like to nip at everything and she used to bite me hard(not blood drawing) but now she just nibbles when she either thinks there is something on my hand or just to taste me again.

Agh! This could all be nothing, but I wanted to at least ask to see what you guys thought.

Thanks for listening~

Sugar gliders do not consume large amounts of water usually, I feel that if she is active and is eating well you shouldn't feel alarmed. Gliders get the majority of fluids from food consumption, such as liquid portions of diet as well as from the fruit and vegetable served along.

I don't quite know if I understand correctly, did you say you feed fruit and vegetables every other day? Is that how that diet instructs to? Make sure you follow your diets instructions to the letter, so they their dietary needs the diet provides.

If you are still concerned, consider taking her for a check up to ease your mind.

Sorry! I meant that I feed her fruits and veggies everyday and yogurt every other day.

Well now she is asleep which is another thing - she seems to be sleeping during the night and staying awake during the day. When I got her it was midday on Friday and she stayed awake during the night but now it seems like she has completely reversed. I guess that was the main cause for my concern - that and the hissing noises.

Haha, I might also be a bit of a worrywart

What's the lighting like in the room where she's at?

You want to make sure that there's light during the day and it's dark at night. This will ensure their natural body clock knows day from night. If she's in a room with no windows or basement with little daylight, or a room that's lit at night and/or has tv on all night, it may mess up the sleep schedule.
