I just saw a very disturbing video posted by a glider owner on facebook last night. It appeared the glider was having a seizure (or at least that's what all of the commenters were saying). The poor little baby was stretching it's arms out one at a time and it got me thinking - my gliders do that sometimes when they first wake up. They move a little slow at first and stretch their arms out one at a time as they walk. I just thought it was them stretching and moving slow like people do when first waking up but now I'm wondering if there is something wrong with them? Anyone else experience this?

I have not see the video, but what your baby is doing sounds like stretching.

It's on the Sugar Glider Fanatics FB page....but I warn you, it's very upsetting. I can't even look at it when I go to check the updates. I have to hurry up and scroll down because you can see the suffering on it's little face. It's absolutely heartbreaking.

The glider in the video is not doing that voluntarily. It definitely looks like seizure activity and hopefully she will be able to get her little one into the vet and have it checked into.

With that being said all gliders will stretch completely out to where you can see their patagium when they wake up. Just like us, stretching helps to wake the body up and get it moving. thumb

Thank you Peggy! I feel so much better for mine but still so sad for the baby in the video. It makes me ill to see an animal suffer.

You could recommend that she come here for advice as well. wink But I agree, I watched the video and that glider definitely needed vet care.
