The toxic PVC coated wire is still out there. I talked with a girl to day that purchased her gliders from Pocket Pets then went to a local pet store in Madison, Wisconsin for a larger cage.

The cages carried at this pet store are made locally and the coated wire is most likely purchased locally also, from Klubertanz.

Klubertanz still has the toxic coated PVC wire in stock.

I had this discussion previously with some of the employees at Animart, but I guess I need to go back to reiterate that they should not recommend or allow someone to purchase these coated wire cages for sugar gliders.

I am going to see if I can get the name of the cage manufacture and contact them also. Maybe if they know they would get their wire somewhere else.

I hope this little one get better, I talked to her this morning and he is eating and drinking but still shaking.

Just got back from the pet store, they now have a sign up that states the PVC coated wire cages are not recommended for sugar gliders.

They have also contacted their supplier and he is looking into alternative wire for sugar glider cages. He is considering using aluminum wire.

I am glad they are taking care of the situation and trying to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Great news they are being proactive about this serious situation rather than just ignoring it as some are inclined to do.

Great update, Kimberly. Thank you so much.

Thanks, but I am just doing damage control. If I was amazing they would have done this the first and second time I told them the wire was toxic.

It wouldn't have taken a sick glider for them to do something and contact their supplier.

It would have been nice, but at least they have finally listened.

You kept at it Kim and YOU DID make a difference. Sometimes when things dont get done correctly the first time people walk away thinking they cannot make any changes, it is folks like yourself who keep on trying, keep on hoping and finally things do happen. clap

I come from a long line of very stubborn people. I have Grandma T to thank for that trait.
