...are you guys sick of me yet? blush

I'm ordering toys for my soon-to-be adopted pair, and I was curious; do you have any "must have" toys? Perhaps something that always seems to be a big hit? A staple you would suggest be in every glider's toybox? (I'd be interested in knowing any "must have" treats, too!)

Ball pit! Always a favorite, and foraging toys. Especially the ones where they have to solve a "puzzle" to get to the treat!

Definitely at least one wheel!

Mine love their wodent wheel that's now used as a ball pit. That's their favorite. I cover a couple of the holes with wiffle balls and stick fleece strips, straws, and milk rings in the holes for them to pull out.

Must have treats are definitely Camillies VitaMealies (meal worms), and pine nuts. Those are the two favorites here.

Each of my 3 cages have two stealth wheels and 3 sections of ferret tunnels.

The tunnels are hung from the top of the cage with pear hooks often used on parrot toys. The gliders carry toys in to the tunnels and often use them as a look out. They can run on top or through the tunnels or just curl up and take a nap inside.

I think they feel hidden in the tunnels - but they are clear enough for me to see the gliders inside.

Shape Sorters are also a big hit - lots of large holes to crawl into and out of.

I have one of those but was always afraid to put it in the cage because I worry my chunky boy will get stuck :rofl2:

Although I laugh, this is actually a possibility. So when using them, make sure the holes are large enough to prevent that from happening wink

Zoey loves the mirror with beads and a perch. It's a bird toy, but she likes to look at herself and I notice the beads are moved multiple times a night. It would seem boring to me, but she seems to love it. She even flips the perch up sometimes.
She also has a nightlight that she really loves..... I get the evil eye for turning it off.

My Arwen likes her tunnels and any type of toy that has to be "opened" and there's a treat inside. She likes anything made of plastic as she loves to chew them. Feathers are a big hit as well. She is really the only one that "plays"

The others just want food. So toys that you can hide treats in are good. They all have wheels.

They are really smart. Once they have figured out how to open a toy for a treat, it takes them no time to get it out.
A cheap version of a foraging toy is a plastic Easter egg.

I found a bird toy that was a cylinder that the inside had to be turned and pulled out to get the treat. Took Arwen a very short time to figure out.

So far I've ordered two wheels, foraging treasure chests, a foraging cup with a trick to it, rings, a barrel of monkeys, and today I'm going to the craft store for pompoms for a ball bit. In addition, I am looking into... pretty much ALL the reset toys! :D

(Seriously, I have so many windows and tabs open on my browser that it is running super slow :P)

If you search amazon for foraging toys for parrots (no ropes or fabrics), I believe you might find the challenges you're looking for. I would also research puzzles for the African Grey parrot, you may find a few in there that can be altered to the needs of your glider. smile

I agree. Every glider should have a wodent wheel. Thanks for suggesting those other toys. Question: if you give your gliders the toys where they have to turn and pull to open, will that make it easy for them to figure out how to unlock their cage? What kind of locks do you have on their cage?

Actually a "Wodent Wheel" is what I'd put last on the list to give to a glider. They're not specifically made for gliders so it doesn't allow them to jump as they would in the wild. And they've been known to cause injuries as well.

The Fast Track, Stealth, Raptor, and Custom Choice Cruiser are all better options to go with because they're made specifically for gliders.

I ordered a Raptor wheel for Zoey. Cora is bringing it Friday, I hope Zo likes it. She's never had a wheel. She is not used to toys, when I got her she only had 1 toy in her cage. It was a bird toy with big wooden bead things and a liberty bell.

Anyways.... Raptor wheel, good wheel. thumb

For raptor and stealth wheels, what is a good width? I tried to search the forums, but "width" is used in coding, so I got TONS of completely irrelevant results tounge

Toy bin or ball pit.

It doesn't hurt to have some jingly or noisy clanky toy in there if the noise doesn't bother you. I love hearing my brats clank a noisy toy around, makes me smile.

IMO, width doesn't really matter. You can get their normal width and it will be fine. If you have a large colony, then a wider wheel would be nice. But honestly, they do fine in the "stock" sizes. wink
