Here is the situation in a nutshell. We took in 11 owner surrender gliders. Two intact males & nine females. One of the females had an OOP joey with eyes open, fully furred & tail starting to fuzz out. Momma passed during the night. Momma gave her last glimmer of life to keep this baby fed and we are too late to save her. Joey is 20 grams, is not skinny but is definitely small. What do we need to give this baby to help it thrive & is it safe to put it with any of the other gliders from the intake? Joey is currently being kept warm in a bonding pouch and we can insure it is hydrated. We have unflavored pedialyte but is it also safe to give electrostat?

At least one female has joeys in pouch (she is not thin like the momma that passed) and we are doing the waiting game with the rest. Males have been placed in their own bachelor pad and we divided the females into two groups. The momma that passed & the joey were placed in their own cage because momma was so very thin and we wanted to make sure she was eating enough to sustain herself & the joey. She was eating & drinking but it wasn't enough to keep her alive.

We are experienced wildlife rehabbers & I have two happy glider girls as pets but I do not have joey experience. Advice is needed & greatly appreciated!

Here is a link to Suz Sugar Glider Help for Rejected Joeys . I know this joeys isn't rejected but no knowing how old it is you should treat it as such until someone with more experience can chime in.

You will find what you need to feed the little one on this web site.

Please keep us posted on the progress of this little one.

There are also some directions on my Glider Info page which can be found Here

It will assist you in making an incubator and feeding schedules. A few of my customers that had reasons to supplement their joeys also used my HPW Plus™ and HPW Complete™ powders and added some probiotics into it.

Thanks for your quick replies! I have a messages sent to Suz & have also contacted a local glider rescue. I'll keep ya all updated about this & the other babies. We know that we have at least two more on the way and REALLY hope that no one else has a busy pouch.
