A sugar glider is a very small animal that resembles a flying squirrel. Fateley keeps her sugar glider, Viva, at home.

"Sugar gliders are nocturnal so she keeps me up all night running in her wheel," Fateley said.

Fateley purchased Viva at Scaly Dave's, the pet store in Aggieville. Viva, her cage and all the necessities totaled 400 dollars.

"I haven't let her glide out in my room yet, we're still bonding," Fateley said. "Sugar gliders need a lot of affection to survive."

This is where I rescued John from. When I found him Dave's had him and 7 others in the middle of the shop with every Tom, Dick, & Harry poking amd proding at them. They had the poor litte guys in a see through mesh pouch, exposed to light and would drag them out for any one who asked. They looked so miserable I gave them my rent money to set him free into my care. I felt so bad I couldn't buy the rest! i am just the opposite. i was raised just over the kansas line, in ft scott, and now i live at the lake of the ozarks in misery, um, i mean missouri. i still consider myself a kansan. (the kids keep trying to teach me their statehood things, and when they quiz me about the state bird, i alwasy say meadowlark. they get mad and yell, "mooooom, that's not our bird!" i always laugh and say, "well, it's mine!")

Leavenworth KS, here but was transplanted from Texas. Been here 10 years this time. I keep moving away and keep coming back. I like it, think I'll stay. But Texas will always have a part of my heart.

Alycen, glad to see another Kansan here. I live in Newton, and there is also several Wichita people here and a Derby close by. One of these days we are going to have to all meet. Where are you located?
