When I picked up my twin gliders today their previous owner didn't have any kind of bedding in the bottom of the cage. Is it necessary to have bedding & if so what's best?

Most people use fleece sleeping pouches that hang in the cage. They also make corner hammocks, bridges and vines out of fleece.

You can get fischer price toys from the thrift store and put them on the floor of the cage for the gliders to play in.

Here is a picture of one of my cages:

If you're referring to the drop pan, no bedding is necessary. Many, including myself prefer none, but some use liners either paper, fleece, or Jana has a cool custom liner she makes. There are two or three substrates used by some as well, yesterday's news cat litter and I can't remember the others that are safe atm.

The drop pan was was I was talking about. I ended up lining it with press-n-seal. Lol

I'm one that opts to use nothing. I find it more sanitary to just wipe it out every day. Doing so removes the pee/poo and food leftovers leaving nothing behind to stink up the cage. I use clorox wipes (some aren't comfortable using them because it contains chemicals...but I have used them for years) and it cleans and sanitizes the tray every day. Just wipe it out into the trash can.

Careful they dont pull the press and seal up. I use Cozy N Fresh for the bottoms of my trays. You can find it at tractor supply. I also like Yesterdays News.

I wash my pans out in the kitchen sink and run everything down the garbage disposal.

I used to use a spray bottle of alcohol and paper towels to clean the drop pans. The alcohol evaporates and leaves no residue.

We use alcohol to clean anything used for processing semen at work: the lines, the extender vat, bagging machines. It doesn't leave a residue that could kill the semen the next production day like bleach could if you don't get it all rinsed off.

That is where I got the idea to use alcohol, plus it loosens dried on sticky food.
