I'm moving and going to be a little tight on money till next month so I was wondering what your favorite DIY glider toys/accessories where so I could get some ideas going lol All I have really seen is fleece toys which I am interested in making (: Also picked up some of those little fluffy balls from the doller store to put in a glider sized tuple ware bin I am also very interested in making my own wheel but have not found a video on doing that yet frown I'm looking for something fun that they could interact with maybe? Mine don't seem to use any of the toys I had bought for them when I got them they rarely even use the perch that goes across the cage my male seems to like it out of the cage considering he has more room to jump around
I am also planning on making my room a semi glider room lol I have everything covered as far as glider proofing except the heater what could I use to cover this? It is one of the ones that runs across the bottom of the wall it's only on one wall so it's not to inconvenient but I would like to find something to put on it that does slide off if they jump on it I would love to put bridges and silk plants some pouches and things around the room when we are back on track with money but what else?

I used to have one of those heaters in the rooms in the apartment I used to have and speaking from personal experience my trio at the time was never on the floor enough for it to concern me when it was warm enough that we didn't need the heat. We lived there for months and they were only ever on the floor when they misjudged a glide and fell. They always stuck to the cages and the furniture and they loved terrorizing anything and everything on my desk, including me!
I had intended to build a cover for the heater by using pvc and the mesh their cage was made out of it to protect them from it when it got warm enough to need but we didn't stay in that apartment through the winter so never actually got around to building it.

sounds like you're referring to baseboard heat. I had that in the house I lived in when I first got my gliders. I would have the heat turned down or off (depending on the time of year) for the bathroom play time. I had originally cut a large strip of fleece and used magnets that had sticky back on one side (it came in a roll). I used several on top and bottom of fleece and used to cover the baseboard opening. Then when it got kind of ratty, I just started throwing the fleece blanket over it and kept an eye on them. It was always supervised playtime. I kept trying to figure out a good material that was more heat resistant and sturdy I could attach magnets to, but ended up moving before hand.

Later tonight or tomorrow, when I feel better I'll get into some DIY toys favs for you.

Some of my favorite items I usually use for making toys are:

Craft lace
Pony beads
Silk flowers/leaves
Small Easter eggs or other items for foraging
C-links
Shape links, for bling and ching
I also like to use those little rings you can get at sewing stores.

I also like to browse around in Dollar stores especially, but some other stores as well, looking for things that can be used for safe toys.

Here I used small wiffle balls and party favor (ball in cup toys) found in dollar stores, which can be removed and straws be poked through, which I ended up doing in the lower wiffle ball.

(The Monkey in a Barrel toy was purchased from a vendor)

Here is braided fleece

Bracelets and shower curtain hooks

Crazy straws, because you can just hang'em

Hanging basket toy

On the far right corner, embellished bird toy

I have done more recent stuff using mesh that's used for cage building, but you most likely seen those in recent posts.

Toy making is fun, I love it and find it relaxing.

YES! haha base bored heat I couldn't think of what it was called for the life of me lol My male glider is always on the floor running around investigating my current room does not have the basebord heat it has a vent in the floor that I cover with a mesh laundry basket when I first got my male I kept him at my bf's house he has the basebord heat in every room and I was so scared he would get cut from the sharp edges or fall in the opening because he would constantly run on it or sniff it and just look like he was going to jump in it haha Thanks so much for all the pictures! love how it's so colorful!

You can get covers for them, but it's expensive. Basically, if you can find a heat resistant material and a safe way to attach to the heat units, then you won't have to worry so much, I know I was afraid my gliders would crawl into them myself. If I ever find myself in a place with baseboard heat again, I will look into DIY covers for them. Luckily at this time, it's not a concern for me anymore. I wish you luck working something out.

I hope my toy photos were helpful. I have made so many toys, and plan on making many more, lol. My gliders will need more storage space than I do if I keep at it :rofl2:
