LOL. Was it her that got started with the gliders in the first place, or am I remembering wrong? I could be mistaken, but I thought she was the first to get a glider in your house. I'm sure she ends up loving them all anyway.

Yes Terry she was the original glider lover. ( i purchased her first glider as a Xmas gift.) I always jump into something with both feet once i realize I like/love it. I think once we gotten settle with these 2 ( at what ever point I can find time to make the trip ) I am going to set a self imposed limited of no more gliders at the house. lol The 3 male intact gliders are doing well and are taken to work( my boss is helping trying to find them homes but sadly not going so well due to the smell) and I don't have a 500+ laying around right this second for neutering, ( still trying to get all my grass cutting equipment up to safety running this season. (were my rescue money will come from in the future I guess lol)

WEll i got an over night Guess and a very happy Wife. Muffin the glider that started it all ( Pocket Pets Demo glider) Her cage need some of the little clips tighten up and some other cage sprucing up so it not so flimsy feeling. So since it will take me about 2 hours to do it right I got permission to bring her and cage home so I can work on it( at a none rushed paced, as well not got to worry about being interrupted by customers. My wife is happy as can be cause Muffin started us onto this glider slave love. and we are still trying to get them to let us buy her.

Ok I had a seven hours of driving but I got all 4 ( gliders. one females has a shorten tail due to a break and amputation, and the other pair are chunky monkeys The one pair a pockepts ( and in a standard pp cage ( I have a second one I am goin to clean up and see if i can put the cages together and make a larger one. The other pair came with a exotic nutrition glider cage ( it nice and big like 27x24 x almost 5ft tall. ) they both came wit ha lot odf items we are gonigo t go though and see what actually safe for them and then go from there. (if I can get have them form a colony I may even look at a second cage like thieres and form a larger cage with 2 together and keep the side piece in case i ever need ot make 2 cages. but # girls and a neutered boy they all need some tlc ( proper diet ) and nail clipping but I will let them settle first some lol that was a long ride with motorcycles passing people down the center lane and all this new stress they put up with both groups are about 3 years old

Yeah I can say I enjoyed the trip and the time to do something positive for gliders. The only thing I found funny is I come home and almost get in a wreck cause some a hole pulled out in front of me and a cop (coming the other way) well I know he paying a fine cause the cop did a u-turn and nailed him.

Scary part is I can see how it possible to end up with a lot of gliders in a short time. So i have to resist the want to help the poor little guys until I know we have resources for their vet checks and what not. My wife is a little irked over the fact it was 4 gliders, But she loves the one cage. Now I need to figure out my resources for until I can put a few of my side funding projects in te bank lol.

Sop i think my wife will murder me tonight lol. I was just figuring out how much Critter Love formula i need to order for feeding say 11-12 gliders . lol I just made 1.5 cups of powder up ( that about currently 3 weeks worth of food with the way I feed it) I need to work a lot harder to pay for 5 lb every 2 months (roughly) I am going to be going though about 2.5-3 lb a month in glider staple. That almost as much as my truck insurance and renter's insurance at this time. I going to need to find a winning lottery ticket or figure out how to order some each month this summer to stock up for winter.

How much staple are you guys with larger colonies going though? lol I hate to see what a place like AZ glider rescue uses in a month.

Try the CL Plus, you can order that and bee pollen online, then just add the eggs, honey and water. It's only slightly more complicated to mix, but will be cheaper in the long run.

My wife got the original Womabroo stuff to try but she has not made any yet. I just made the last of CL I had on hand cause I need more cubes for tonight lol. I wish i could just make a mix of the staple and their food then I just pop cubes out and put in the plate. I watched that the glider will eat at the cube most the time if it not right from the fridge ( it started to melt and soften )

but man they love working on any frozen foam that still there when the cub has it lol.

Mechnut,

If the Complete is getting too costly then switch to the Plus. You only use 1/4 cup of powder per batch and you add 3 scrambled eggs to it along with 2 cups of water, a tablespoon of bee pollen that you can get at any GNC or other vitamin store and 1 1/2 cups of honey.

I mainly use the Plus, but I do have the complete on hand in case I am traveling or short on time and out of the plus.

Well I can say making progress with the 4 gliders, the one pair seems ok with being handled( the short tailed one will climb out on my arm and jump to stuff from me ( not had time to do any bathroom time as I suddenly working extra hours between people calling out and one quitting at work) I can hope for tonight. I the other pair the male no longer is crabs if you look into the pouch or lunges at you when peeking in. ( still frighten and runs away a lot ) the Female in the group will comes over and grab at your finger and try to bite you every time. ( hopping a bathroom time or 3 will start to break this habit. I hopping it cause they want to protect their cage. Tomorrow will be the big day for the 3 legged glider and still guessing my demise lol

At some point you need to set a LIMIT for yourself. It seems you are taking in gliders from many prior owners very quickly - at some point (if it hasn't already) your home will no longer handle SEPARATE ROOMS for overlapping 30 day quarantine periods and you could be setting yourself up for a huge headache having to medicate all the gliders in the shared room for parasites should one of the new gliders come to you with that issue.

Not only are you stressing yourself out by spreading your time and attention very thin among a large number of gliders, but eventually it will not benefit the gliders who get very little individual attention and socialization.

As much as we all want to create a wonderful life for ALL SUGAR GLIDERS - we each have to recognize our limits in space for cages, time for out of cage play and our individual financial resources.

Once I get this one home I will be at the limit. I have been lucky that I have people interested in the gliders once I think they are ready to go out. I think once the remaining rescues leaves i going to force myself to not be so willing to take them in from people,

I lived lol, and we both home ( she a little stressed but I have had her take a treat from my hand ( in pouch). I will give her the next few days to calm down.
I do want to ask with her only having 3 legs Once i start working with her is there anything I should watch for on her little stump? from what I can tell she moves around fine,. I do know to look for injuries and swelling/rawness. it welled healed.
From what i am told the poor thing was given a sock of some type as pouch and thread was wrapped around her foot ( by the time the second owner got her it was dead and they took it off at about the ankle i think. it looks welled healed. I hoping that in the next few days she will let me look at it and her more up close and personal. She was fed ( by the last owner the wombaroo diet and her veggies and all)

She will be find, animals adapt better than people do.

Put some extra hammocks and bridges in the cage for her.

Give her a wheel, you will be surprised.

yeah I need to order a wheel or 2 now( might have to wait until the SGGA to pick them up). last night was a set her cage back up and feed then i crashed been going none stop all day . ( plus she needs time to adjust to the new sounds and smells. She will really trip once I start taking her places.

Awe, she looks real sweet. I don't know what to tell you to look out for, if it's healed and she's getting around alright, I wouldn't worry about any specifics.

Sorry that the two are so scarred, just take it slow but steady with them. I know you're busy, but start by letting them get used to your sound, talk, sing or whatever to them sitting near the cage from time to time. A schedule would work best though. They will need a lot of commitment of time spent to get them to be less scarred. My Lulu wanted to attack me every time I put my hand in the cage, even near it, she'd try to reach out for it. And she crabbed so, just the sight or sound of me set her off. I actually didn't do much to bond with them at first due to her behavior. I thought I just had a mean glider. Then I learned more about them and found out it was fear. So I set myself on a mission to gain her trust. We've come a great way, but I feel there is always room for improvement. However each glider with their own personalities will bond at different speeds and different levels, as I'm sure you realized by now with all your experience thus far.

I like your pics mechnut. Thought the poses were cute! I am so happy you became a rescue. Love your stories.

With time the pair should come around.

Well after a few words we decided I need to change the little girl name ( i can't say Kylin right ( plus does not match our current gliders names at all lol. I want to get something close to it but not at the same time well. ( i keep wanting to call her krylon as in the paint ) lol. We have friends coming over tomorrow to look at the 2 of the rescues ( for a future pick up date to be set if they like them)
