When I checked on my babies yesterday morning before leaving for work, they seemed fine. Poked heads out when I came in to see them, went back in the pouch to sleep as always.
Last night, my son was checking in on them, as he often does and ran to get me because they were collapsed on the bottom of their enclosure.
The girl, Lilo, was already gone but was still warm which breaks my heart cause if we had just known maybe we could've done something?
The boy, Stitch, was laying next to her and at first I thought he was gone too but I got him out and he was breathing.
I gave him water which he barely sipped, he sorta tried to eat but it seemed like more of a reflex, he would nip a bit but not enough to actually eat. When drinking he was nipping at the water bottle tube.
All night he was twitch, straining all limbs out and arching his back, then curling up in a ball and one arm would randomly twitch. He also kept reflexively grasping and holding on to the cloth, me, the pouch, etc.
I don't know what else to do, I have had them over a year with no issues, waiting to hear back from a vet and just keeping an eye on him but he seems to be getting weaker and weaker.
I doesn't seem to be very aware at all, either.
Is it too late??

I would say get him to the vet ASAP, no reason to wait to hear from a vet, take him in, he needs to be checked and treated.

Making a call to the vet was indeed the thing to do, however, this little one needs to be seen as quickly as possible.

We know that gliders very often hide their illness until it is indeed too late which may be exactly what has happened and the reason you had no warning before the death of the other one.

This is so heartbreaking. I would call the vet back and let them know just how urgent it is for your glider to be seen.

I will move this to Health & Hygiene for you now. Please keep us updated.

Thanks, I will call them back again. I was waiting to see if they will/can treat suggies, I don't know which ones will and won't. The only other one I knew of moved last summer, right after I got them.

So sorry for your loss, may you find comfort in the good times you did get to share with your two gliders for as long as you had them.

Phil

so sorry to hear, they both died.

I would ask about some test done to determine the cause of death , both with in 24 hour would make me worry about the property being treated with poison or something like that..

So sad! I'm so sorry for your loss. One is heartbreaking- but two in 24 hours- OMGoodness! I agree with mechnut450. You should definitely have a necropsy done to see what happened to these little angels gangel ! My heart goes out to you and your family! :rbridge:

I am so sorry!!! It breaks my heart to read this cry I know exactly how it feels to loose a glider suddenly and there was nothing more you could have done to prevent it; it's the worst feeling in the world. :tant2: I'm so sorry you lost both of your babies so suddenly. Take comfort in knowing that they know they were deeply loved and will be missed dearly. Glider free pretty angels! :rbridge:

Just a quick question, what kind of cage did you have your gliders in?
