Are you shipping your gliders? the taconic transit cage appears to be specific for shipping.
Many folks use a small sturdy cat carrier that has plastic mesh attached to the bars to prevent escape for shipping. Inside that the gliders can be placed in a critter keeper for added security on the trip.
I can't bring them as a carry on or checked bag so the only way I could bring them is as cargo. I have read people use the taconic transit cage because it is approved for airlines and I thought it might be better then tying to rig a cat carrier.

Check with the airlines - they may have specific requirements for shipping cages. You also need to make sure that the flight you are taking is equipped to handle animals - not all flights have the climate controlled cargo space necessary for shipping gliders.
Here is a video for how Peggy ships her gliders when she has too, maybe it is another option for you. But I agree with the others, double check to make sure it is even safe to do what you are thinking.
