Apparently Suzie is NOT a she! I am so livid. I don't want little babies. YES.. they are cute and adorable but it's not something I want. And I am to inexeperienced to even know what to do with babies. We have had them since July 21st.. at least Beatrice.. we got 'Suzie' about a week later. I noticed that there was, not quite a bald spot, but more of hair that is there but moved and stuck to the head. Like it's all oily and needs washing.. but only in that one area. I had read that it could be due to overgrooming due to stress... so I didn't think much of it. Well.. about a week ago I managed to catch an underside glimpse of 'Suzie' and noticed this pom, as you all call it. So on to the research here... Man.. I know more about the male sugar glider then I ever thought I would know. LOL! Anyways... What is the earliest time that they can breed? I am looking for a vet here that I feel safe with the Neuter process. I didn't want to do any of this!! ARGH! So much misinformation and the fact that I didn't get a second female when it was supposed to be.. and I don't feel it's fair to the gliders to just TRADE him in for a female. I wouldn't think that is fair to Beatrice and 'Suzie' since they are bonded. Or should I? The breeder is willing to trade. My husband already asked... I am SOOO confused!!! And annoyed!! Please don't flame me for this.. I am trying to learn so quickly. and fix the mistake of not pushing husband into researching this more thoroughly. Sigh...

You probably should as quickly as possible get him neutered. I wouldn't trade him in either boys are wonderful pets. There is a link page that has vets that deal with sugar gliders. That is how I found my vet. good luck.

Ok.. Thank you for that link. I will go to it as soon as my Chiro appt is done. Quick question. When I was petting him this morning on his head.. there was a wetness on my finger and a smell.. I know.. stupid question but I want to make sure that my gut is right.. this is definitely his scent spot.. cause like I stated before, there is no defined bald spot at the moment, it's there.. just has hair too. If that makes sense.

Unfortunately, some male gliders will still 'mate' w/a female each time she goes into heat. And sometimes she will get 'battle scars' from this. I thought they were like cats, once they are fixed, they don't mate anymore. I was way wrong on that. Learning her cycle, once she has them, see if she does get a mark on her neck, keep track of the date, & separate them for a few days. I do have 2 male gliders that are w/females, & they don't 'mate'. Or, maybe they are doing it the correct way, & I just don't ever see it happening.

Get him neutered ASAP and hopefully he will get that nonsense out of his system.
I have gliders that were neutered after having joeys and they don't leave dominance or mating wounds on their cagemates.
Every glider is an individual.
