Hello everyone!
I need to upgrade my cage to house 2 gliders.

Is this cage okay? Is this metal safe?

Thanks for your help!

No, because there's too much space between the wires. I'm not sure about the coating.

This is the cage I have: www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Bird-Ferret-Sugar-Glider-Chinchilla-Rat-Small-Animal-Cage-With-Metal-Tray474-/252161204747?hash=item3ab5faa20b:m:mVJvtRoIRTkoC4qdfdFbNBw

I have to say, the stand is a bit wobbly. I bet if you get one of the recommended cages (CritterNation? HQ?) they may be more durable.

Darn! Such a great price! Thanks for your quick reply! I'm really trying to go cheap on a cage as I'm one of those poor suckers that bought a glider from Pocket Pets and now I'm trying to do the right thing by getting a bigger cage as well as another glider. Maybe i can hold off on the cage and just use their basic one for two gliders? Mine is 18X18X32. Of course, they say that two can fit in that cage just fine. I don't trust what they say plus there is not much room after the huge wheel from them to jump around.

The one you have looks perfect. I will see if I can find one like that. thanks!

if the like above works, this is the cage you want, a great sale price too. pet smart has them under all things live, SAME cage with different name.
We have two of these cages and they work great. YOu and also get a second cage to add on to the first one. once we get all 4 gliders bonded we are going to combine and make one big cage.

Unless you have time to take them out of the cage every day, bigger is better, our gizmo spends most of his day sleeping with my wife. Our link spends some time with her, then I get them in the 7 foot by 9 foot play room several times a week.

I got my cage from Suncoast gliders. It's the sturdy cage. At 9.95 ship anything, I couldn't beat it at the time. I've had it a year now and it still looks brand new. Even after many power washes.

Until you can get another cage, take the shelf and ramp out of the Pocket Pets cage, it will give you room for the wheel. You can also watch for cages like your starter cage on craigslist, then just take the top off of one and the bottom off the other and put them together for a larger cage.

If you sign up on Petco for their emails they give a 20 percent off your first purchase code and you can get a nice HQ cage that way, usually anything over $40 is free shipping.

HQ Flight Cage, Multi Purpose Aviary with Cart Stand, Black, 1 Per Box

This is the one I got. They do have taller ones that might be better but this one is really well made and the spacing is good on the bars.

I have several of those, if you get another cage and are pressed for room, you can take a bar off the stand and lower one cage onto the shelf and then zip tie it to the stand. Then you stack the other cage on top and zip tie it to the other cage.

Works great as I needed the room, I only have a two bedroom apartment and with all the rescue cages, stacking was the best option.

I am new to gliders but not to small mammals. The only cages I trust are made by Martin's Cages. Check out their website. My glider loves his and I can't wait to get the 60 inch tall one.

If you are getting your cage from Martin's Cages be sure you are getting the POWDER COATED Wire. Some PVC coated wire has been found to be toxic to sugar gliders which is why Martin's also now carries the powder coated wire.

You might also want to consider the Brisbane, Madagascar or Congo Cages from Exotic Nutrition They are currently on sale at great prices.

Yes on the powder coated. My rats love their 3 story condo. I like the close spacing of the bars. Yes Pocket Pets is WAY overpriced. But they are coming to New Orleans and I plan to buy a glider from them. I can't find a reputable breeder near by and the small cage they make you buy with a glider will make a good hurricane evacuation cage. I have a lot to learn so thanks for all the advice for a newbie.
