Hello, I will be a senior in college in the fall and I was wondering what people think or if it is a good idea if I get a sugar glider, I wont be in class all day so I will have time to bond with him/her and able to play with them. I will have a big enough room and enough money to pay for the sugar glider and for the cage, but wondering what people think if it is a good idea that I wont be able to be with the sugar glider maybe for 3 hour a day. I really want a sugar glider as I think I will be able to take care of it and give the love and attention it needs, but looking for advice! im new to this

It's usually recommended to wait until you are out of college and a little more settled before welcoming a sugar glider into your home.
PLUS, gliders are illegal in PA
Sorry I had to burst your bubble.

As for your age I don't think that is an issue, and the time during the day wouldn't be a problem in my mind as they are nocturnal. But, keep in mind that this is about a 15 year commitment. Most people in college have no idea where they will be in 5 years, let alone 10 or 15. What if you have to move across the country for a job after you graduate? What if you get married and move or have kids, what about the glider(s) then? Where will you keep the food for them in college? Do you have a large freezer to keep a good supply of frozen fruits and veggies? Do you have a specific diet in mind? Do you plan on getting more than one glider? They do much better in pairs, though a single glider can do fine on its own it is usually recommended to have at least 2. There is a lot going on in your life right now, this is not a small decision and a glider really doesn't move as easy as a dog or cat in my mind. The huge cage for a glider is not something easy to lug around on a moments notice. There is a lot to think about before making this decision. Phil

There is also the fact that some colleges don't allow them in the dorms.
Please make the best decision for the gliders.

Well, I dunno if you already got a glider, but I am a Senior in College and have a suggie. I go to school in New York but on Long Island and previously Albany, where they are legal, I also live off campus!
Sometimes I actually take Ellie with me to campus, to help her socialize, and to spend time even if she is sleeping.
I also am getting her a pal to sleep and play with for when I am busy, I also work full time, but I play with her after work.
Hope all is well though

That is so cute. It could sit through classes with you. What great bonding time. But i do agree with the time thing. Most people get animals while living at home and cant take them with tthem wherever they go. Just remeber its a pet for years and years
