Hello,
so I've been meaning to upgrade cages as this ones small and came along with Stuart, as I purchased when I got him. Now I have the new wheel and it doesn't fit. :tant2: Anyway.. looking at the brisbane cages etc.. that have been mentioned here before. My question is I plan to keep his cage in case I get him a friend and I can clean it etc.. and use for quarentine and introductions, however moving Stuart to a new cage after he's adjusted to this one will it be traumatic or do they do ok switching cages? Just something to ponder.

While I haven't moved one yet (upgrading to a DCN soon myself) I can't ever recall hearing of someone having traumatic events due to a cage swap. You might want to keep at least his sleeping pouch and a couple of fleece items unwashed so he doesn't go nuts marking his new territory though, although that's more for your sake than his since we know the boys adore their own funk lol.

I just moved Mika into a new larger cage and she did fine. I put all the fleece from the previous cage so it would have her scent. She definitely loves that it is a foot taller than her old cage.

I just moved my four from where they spent the last six weeks to a new cage and they didn't seem to care. I moved several of the items from the old cage to the new one without cleaning them so it would smell familiar.

Actually, they way the fanatically explored it, I think they were having quite a bit of fun.

Awesome, Then the way I planned to do it by taking the old stuff with him to the new cage is the way to go. Thanks

Don't clean their toys or fleece, just put that into the new cage dirty. It will make the transition easier.
