Hello Everyone,
Curious... when you have added to your colony did you go back to the same breeder or want to rescue? Places for getting them here are impossible, there is one breeder in town where I got Stuart, but no rescues. I am going to start searching for him a wife and get him neutered, before he gets too old he is 4 months now oop, and our vet will do it at 6 months. I just want to get him bonded good before bringing a new one in so she can learn from him that I'm a cool person. I have time to search therefore send me your knowledge. thanks Have any of you bought online with good results?

I would like to get a different color/type but am nervous about where to purchase. Not sure if local breeder has too many options. It might be nice to go back to someone I trust, not sure. I know he has some blonde face joeys. Do I need to get a joey or older if my little man is neutered does it matter? I know if there were going to be babies she would need to be a year old.

Also ideas of where to purchase and what price range should I be looking for when it comes to a nice female? I know females are more as are other colors but what do you think might be considered a reasonable price tag?

I can't answer your question completely.

After learning Fiona needed a friend, we had a time finding one for her.

I did turn to Craigslist and that's where we found Dot. The ad stated 5 glider colony will sell complete or separated. When I called they decided to separate all of them. They had one that was the same age as Fiona.

At first when we brought her home she was mean, Crabbed and didn't sleep for 2 weeks while in quarantine. Once we did intros, it was better, but it took 6 months before she became a sweetheart and started bonding. Fiona helped her, and comforted her. We think Dot was teased or abused before we got her.

Mine are both greys and we can tell them apart by face markings, Dot has bigger ears, personality, and Dot weighs about 10gr more than Fiona. When she jumps on you,she hits like a brick. Fiona seems to land like a feather.

As far as pricing, it's all over the place. We paid $75 for Dot. It depends on supply and demand in your area.

My Lulu and Skadoosh I found on Craigslist. They were not abused, but were adopted from a reputable, MD breeder by a family that just got so busy to stay invested (time wise) in them. The children were all involved in activities, and their mom was running them everywhere. She told me, after the children stopped paying attention to them, she basically was the only one handling them during cage cleaning. And of course, she took care of all their needs and it was getting to be a bit much, as well as unfair for the gliders. Looking to get a glider from Cl, can be risky, and at times depressing, seeing conditions some are kept, but you can get lucky and find a gem in the rough.

I know that there is a rescue in Phoenix, AZ Sugar Glider Rescue . I'm not sure how long a trip for you that would be, or if travel is even feasible, just putting it out there in case you weren't aware of them. I also know there is one somewhere in TX Lucky Glider Rescue & Sancuary , but again, not sure distance, especially since I'm not sure of the location for that rescue.

As for the breeder you know, that is also a good choice, especially since you already have established trust. As for a different color glider, it can get costly from what I've seen, coming from a breeder.

Another option is to keep an eye out in rescue & rehome sections in forums such as this one. That is how I found my Ollie boy. I had the pair and at times would entertain the idea of a third glider. Thinking at times of possibly a lone neutered male, or one of those white gliders (I would name Casper for boy, or Daisy for girl). But I never thought my (now XH) would allow it. After he suggested rescuing a pair he'd seen and felt sorry for, and we attempted to (although they wouldn't answer or reply to our phone calls), I started kind of casually looking through the rescue sections. I found a fairly local, lone neutered male, who had lost his cage mate. I got the go ahead to home him and now I have my trio.

Sugiemom,

I bought mine online from Priscilla Price of The Pet Glider. I have four very health joeys that came through their flight from Houston to Germany in great shape. I would highly recommend her & would by from TPG again.

As far as prices, if you go to the website, they show what their joeys cost under each photo. When I was researching, she seemed to be in the general price ranges of anyone else I considered buying from.
