So every year we travel to Ohio via vehicle only for Christmas... This year was no exception...

We left on the 20th for an 11.5 hour drive... My intention was to leave at 6am CST... Put us in Columbus at 6:30 pm EST...

The girls who normally are tucked in for the day by 5:30 am were curious why we are up and the lights are on and coming and going so much. Plus I was cleaning/ straitening their cage at such an early hour... Very curious... Like running up my arm and hopping to the bed and acting nuts at 6am... 6:30 comes and goes, I pull out their glidarium travel size cage and then they are all over it inside outside, peed on it... you get the picture... Would not get in a pouch at all. Fiona jumped on my shoulder like I glued here there. Dot on my back in that special spot you can't reach... So we turned off the car that was warmed up, shut off the lights, sipped coffee sitting in the middle of the bed while the girls settled down and decided we were no fun anymore and went back to their cage and went to bed. This was a good thing so we learned later in the day.

So I scooped them up in their sleeping pouch hung them in the travel cage and we were off by 7:39 am CST. The trip was great, good weather, dry roads, sunshine all the way. Gave the girls a couple of grapes and apple slices before we packed them in the car. Seat belts on... Not much traffic through St Louis, Indianapolis, we were doing great... Got to Fayton/ Springfield OH, they had a new sign- ya know the kind that gives you updates on how long it will take to get to the next exit or town? It read " Columbus 15 miles 80 minutes". Really? At 65 mph? So I tuned in to the local a.m. station for traffic updates. All traffic good to construction no accidents... Listened to local radio station nothing. Maybe the sign wasn't working... Ok, no problem... we were on schedule... Girls would be waking up about the time we got to Johnstown ( other side of Columbus ). Then the break lights in front of us started coming on... Great. Next exit was 10 miles... we were at a stop... so I Google OHGO like the a.m. station said I should and got the transportation map of traffic. 85 minute delay at 0 - 24 mph. Nice... Called the family let them know we will be late. 70 minutes later we were rolling again. (Construction and not a wreck thank goodness ).

We made it to downtown Columbus and the barking began... ugh! 20 more minutes to go!

So I reach back unbuckle them grab the grapes unzip the cage and the crabbing/ lunging began... I popped two grapes in the pouch, missed getting bit by milliseconds. Zipped it shut and listened to them crab the rest of the trip. It was a long 17 Minutes.

I learned a hard lesson in downtown: Ignore the bark!

We got there tossed the gengi tent up opened the travel cage inside and they just say on top of their pouch watching us get their big cage assembled. Once ready, I turned to them in the tent, they crawled down on their pouch, I scooped their pouch out and into their cage, fed them and they were content once more...

They have been good ever since. Fiona loves grandkids. Dot won't bite but not thrilled with strangers.

We are still in Ohio till the 2nd. I hope we can make a timely trip home...

I hope everyone is happy, safe and warm. And had a Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year Ya'll! party jump :party2:

We made it home safely. The girls were more patient this time.

They were awake and waiting.

I took them out of their glide arium (travel size) and they hung out on their sleeping pouch waiting for dinner to thaw.

It was cute!
