Hello Everyone. I finally got my gliders today and I would like to take this time while they are babies to soak up knowledge as much as they can. I read they also like to figure things out as well and that's why I wanted to make some homemade puzzle toys for them.

I already spent hundreds of dollars on toys and accessories to fill up the cage for now, while I work on making some homemade toys. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions for making such toys? Any videos or links on how to make certain puzzle toys or if anyone has advice on making some please let me know!

only thing I'm weary about is I don't want to use any harsh materials making the toy, so I'm taking precautions right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No pill fleece is the gold standard for the making of any soft glider goods.

Save screw on milk/bottle lids. Put holes through the middle and string on a strip of fleece, like a clamshell. Tie knots or string straws in between. Like this:

Makes a great cheap treat cups.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I def plan on making some of those milk bottle lids thanks for the tip! is that a pic of your cage ladymagyver? I like those pouches and was wondering where you got em?

I also am cutting strips of fleece right now to tie around a rope and knot the ends for a toy they can grab and crawl on like a snuggle hoop like they sell on exotic nut. sites.

Also I'm trying to make some toys out of origami paper. (using printing paper at the moment) I'm trying to challenge them and make little puzzle toys. Right now I'm working on making a box with a pull out drawer for them so when they figure it out there will be a sweet treat in there!

Paper is ok for them correct? I didn't see anything about it being dangerous, but I think i seen cardboard being bad? Thanks again if anyone had info on that or experience dealing with paper or printing paper, origami paper in a cage. I plan to make a bunch of little puzzle toys to try out and see if they work, so if I can't use origami paper please let me know. I know they're are a lot of types of origami paper so the type i'm talking about is just the basic colored on one side and white on the other.

Also what about popsicle sticks? Thanks everyone!

I replied to your post in the other forum, listing all the materials I could think of that I have used in toy making.

I make my own pouches, and thank you! We were in transition between cage sets. I let the girls choose when they give up their smelly pouch. The true timber seems to be their favorite. They are large pouches so you can share their pouch for fist time.

those are great looking pouches, looks like they were bought from a store. have you sold any before? they actually let you know when to switch pouches? This is the first I heard of fist time; I have a ton to learn still I see.

When I was new and mine were joeys, I had to change their sleeping pouch out when I washed their hammocks and fleece stuff because they would pee on their sleeping pouch. It became a habit to change everything. I would scoop them out, and in to a clean one. Then one day when I did that I got a real pitiful look from them, and I smelled their old pouch. It smelled like them, but not of potty or poo so I offered it back to them, they crawled in and I haven't made them change since.

They mark their pouch with their scent, and usually will change pouches in a couple of days. And if they don't, and it starts to smell, I will remove it once they wake up. With two gliders, I keep 2 pouches in the cage at all times. That way if somebody wants to sleep alone they can. I keep blankies in each so they can snuggle with them too.

If you are interested in a pouch or cage set, please PM me, or I can PM you.
