I want to know what it sounds like when a glider is wheezing, or what they look like when they have an upper reapitory infection.

My vet appointment isn’t till Thursday and I’m going crazy trying to figure out what’s wrong with him. Hard to relax knowing this could be his last bit of time. YouTube doesn’t have info on most of the things they can come down with.

He was drinking more water than usual a week or two ago, was very active and normal. And now he’s suddenly very lethargic, won’t eat, but will drink water/juice, stopped eating treats, seems to have lost a little weight....

and seems to be clicking alot, He’s on my chest just clicking away, until he falls asleep then the clicking stops... which makes me think he’s just happy/comforted by me when he’s awake....

He’s got the droopy ears, slow movement thing going on. Really seems to want to be on my should to sleep instead of this pouch...

Anyone have experience with respiratory infections? Or a suddenly lethargic glider? I’ve been doing research and results aren’t good other than people saying “take to vet”, which MY APPT IS ON THUR, or people saying they don’t know what it could be... I did find this link ( a list of ailments, I really hope poarig this link is ok.)

https://www.critterlove.com/health-issues.html

But don’t think he really shows all the signs of one or the other...

Thanks for anyone’s time who takes to read this

An infection in the airways often traveling to the lungs. This can be caused by drafts, drastic and quick temperature changes.

Lethargy
Lack of appetite
Popping sound while breathing
Excessive sleeping
Dehydration

TREATMENTS:

Please contact your veterinarian immediately.

Welcome to GliderCENTRAL, and I wish it could be under much different circumstances.

It appears your little one has just about all the symptoms listed under the CritterLove site and does indeed need to see your vet as soon as possible.

I realize you have an appointment on Thursday, and under normal circumstances that would be good.

These, however, are not normal circumstances. As you may or may not know gliders will hide their illnesses and when we, as their caretakers, finally realize they are indeed sick, they have been sick for some time. It is then that vet care becomes urgent.

What you need to do is call your vet back and do whatever you need to do to try and get this little one in before Thursday. Tell them you will be worked in. Whatever they are willing to do. Your little one really needs some meds before Thursday.

I agree with Karen! If you tell them he is getting worse they will try to work you in.

Please keep us updated on your little one.
